only your doctor can answer that. It could be many things.

Chat with your doc. Many of our drugs if you look on the nras site can cause kidney problems therefore we get blood checks regularly in case. Also maybe in the past have you had urine infections, does it feel like that. ? Hope you get answers soon but drinking plenty of water can't hurt till you chat with the doc x

would need more information, as to whether your referring to bacteria found, or if you have abnormal levels of protein, sodium, bilirubin etc. The urine can help you detect many conditions within the body. Be best to call your GP and ask. It may well be nothing. This is why as a nurse I sometimes have reservations about Joe public, having access to results without understanding them, and therefore causing anxiety. 🤗

“sometimes have reservations about Joe public, having access to results without understanding them”

If more time was taken in schools and by doctors to educate and inform people about their body and the science of basic functions it would be far preferable. Leaving people in ignorance just perpetuates the tendency of many doctors to be patronising and uncommunicative!

I’m not suggesting leaving people in ignorance. I feel there are times when results should only be released after the Dr has explained them to the patient, or when their normal results with no concerns. Generally if there is any concerning results, the gp will phone to discuss, or the receptionist arranges an appointment to discuss them. Dr Google leads to unnecessary stress, with the worst possible cause of the result being the first thing they see, and their brain going into overdrive. Also not everyone wants to have a deeper understanding of their body and how it functions. I’ve nursed many patients who don’t even want to hear the risks involved with procedures, and just want to put their trust in their Dr. Unfortunately health professionals have a duty to ensure patients are fully informed, as they have to have informed consent. I’ve had to reassure many people in posts, who are a nervous wreck after reading results, whether that be blood tests or MRIs etc.

I totally agree and well put and I usually now don’t read a PIL because the serious meds did me no harm but a common one caused my AKI. I’ve said to a surgeon please don’t tell me, I’ll be asleep. Most medications including paracetamol can cause kidney issues but that is an unusual occurrence. It might be that it’s as simple as dehydration ! Only a doctor can diagnose be it urine or blood.

Certainly agree about google! And equally agree doctors should explain stuff. However all too often I hear of doctors (and nurses) dismissing people with no explanations, and of people who don’t dare ask questions as they don’t understand what to ask.

Being informed can be empowering.

This may not be relevant to this thread, but It does illustrate how stupid NHS staff seem to think all are.

Last year I broke my hip.

While it was being repaired I had a heart attack.

This meant an extended stay and 5 extra tablets in the morning.

I kept asking if someone would discuss the medication for the heart would affect me.

I don’t know if the nurses knew, but nobody talked to me about it.

When I was referred type another hospital for rehab,I again asked every day.no information given .

The day before discharge I again asked for info.

Oh they’ve all gone home.

I explained that I had asked every day.

The person I’d asked went away and typed a list of medication, which was a bit of help .

I was on loads of meds already for autoimmune conditions and lung problems!I’ve got some idea of their side effects etc,but this last bout of illness I’ve felt un supported .

No after care Information was given.

I was told that after 6 months I would have an appointment regarding my heart.

I’m not holding my breath.

Does your surgery not do patient access. It’s all online and you can cut and paste into a diary. The hospital also invites people to Patient Knows Best which is great as paperless records and saves postage.

You don't say why the test result was abnormal, but if it was a UTI then read on!

I was having UTIs (confirmed by tests) but not having experienced any symptoms! It was annoying for me as it meant my Rituximab infusions had to be delayed until I had antibiotics and cleared the infection.

I had a referral to a Urologist who confirmed it's not uncommon, especially in older ladies! Since then I've been using the Estriol cream he prescribed, which has solved the problem. He also recommended taking D:Mannose, either as a tablet or powder dissolved in water, to prevent reoccurrence.

I have had repeated urinary infections since 1984. These show as abnormal on teats. Eventually it was found that my bladder never fully empties (only 23%) & that an infection orob sets up during the night.
