Hydroxychloroquine and colour of urine

Hi all . Wondering if anyone can help. I started hydroxychloroquine a week ago, all seems fine but I did notice the colour of my urine was a tad darker during the day. I do drink water , probably a litre a day. I’ve checked on the literature given with the tablets but it doesn’t seem to say anything but looking on the internet it does say to stop and contact your GP. I will do this but has anyone else ever had this? Many thanks

Hi there, I don't take sulphasalazine any more, but it used to make my urine much more yellow, and if there was bleach in the toilet from cleaning the chemical reaction turned it bright yellow....Have me quite a fright until I figured out what caused it!!😂

I found no difference in the colour of my urine on hydroxychloroquine but sulphasalazine made a startling difference. Is there a chance you might have a uti? I hope that helps

No I haven’t noticed that.

Don't remember getting anything like that when I was on it. Maybe ring docs in the morning and run it past them to be sure.

Sulfasalazine apparently causes your urine to turn orange but I wouldn't know about Hydroxychloroquine. Best to get it checked out just in case it gets any worse - nip it in the bud so to speak.

I am on it and my urine is darker in the mornings and it gets lighter during the day. Just to be sure ring your gp.xxxx

No change on Hydroxchloroquine. You might just need to increase your fluid intake but if it's new for you, I'd check with your GP.

Mine is darker since taking Hydroxchloroquine especially in the mornings but best to check

I'm a man! :-) No change of colour during the 3 or more years I was on hydroxychloroquine.

Not that you'd be daft enough to do what I did when I had a UTI, and that's brush off the symptoms untiI I had to go to out of hours. The on duty doctor asked me to do a sample in the toilet. When I handed it to her she looked a little shocked and said ...'did you just do that'!?? Yes I replied sheepishly, 'well sit down by there a minute while I arrange a bed for you'! :-(

I did say I was a bloke! :-O
