I requested and got 5yrs special eye test this year for taking DMARDS Hydroxy in London. Wasn’t offered but insisted I got it at my last RA consultant checking.
just asked me what meds I was on and how long, and my weight, and how my eye sight was and that was it, now I am to wait for an appointment to be seen in person for how long a wait who knows??
I get checked once a year at the hospital, they are very thorough, it usually takes about half an hour. My hubby had a physio appointment over the phone, what a waste of time, she told him she couldn’t help him and referred him back to his GP 🙁. He waited months as well.
Yes lot of physio like this I am so lucky have a wonderful young lady 45 min appointments exercises shown and printed or linked to online and hydro booked for 4 sessions
A Rheumatologist referred me to the hospital eye department for a test rather than going to the popular High Street opticians. HCQ for over 10 years. However, I never received an appointment and when I asked, the hospital said as I have no other health problems (heart, diabetes etc.) other than RA, I did not qualify.
My wife, having waited over a year for some hearing aids, has now been told that she will have an assessment’ (?) over the phone in January. She’s already had 3 hearing tests and been told on each occasion that she needs hearing aids but she still needs to be assessed’ apparently! I just hope that she has a good mobile phone signal that day or who knows what’ll happen.
Yep, our good old NHS is becoming something that we can all be really proud of! GPs who have gone into hiding, people being misdiagnosed and then sent home to die of sepsis, doctors who think they’re worthy of a 30%+ pay increase and dentists who think that they are too important to even bother with NHS patients. Someone once said that America was a country where people were invited to die from diseases that they couldn’t afford to have; well I guess we can see where our own medical care industry is headed!
I did wonder what people were clapping and banging saucepans for. I was asked a year ago by a GP to take a photo of my inner ear. I put the phone down.
My local optician was an ophthalmologist recommended by my GP and I had annual check ups with her. Was then given a hospital appointment in February for a scan. It was obviously very important as I haven’t had any results yet! Decided it is not worth following up as I have now discontinued the hydroxychloroquine.
