I had an telephone call from the nhs podarist clinic and they have the insole that were ordered in August and was given an appointment for 2 January at 1.20.I told the receptionist about the foot scan and that I was advised to have custom insoles and she said to discuss it with the podiatrist.
I also have an private appointment tomorrow. Should I cancel the private appointment.

I would continue with the private appointment. NHS insoles come in one standard material and are very thick. Private insoles ( my are) are high tec and very thin so can fit in most of my shoes.
For me yes. My gait was way off, I had Achilles problem and very high arches. walking with astride was impossible. It solved all these problems until lately when RD for 12 weeks went crazy and peripheral neuropathy meant I couldn’t wear any shoes. My feet have changed so much I need new ones . They cost me £235 pounds but they will be worth it if I can walk without pain. My back is a big problem when my gait is off
Yes I have been referred to podiatry but will pay if need to lots of food issues toes ankle gait. Not sure who I will go too there's a couple of food clinics near me thanks
If your NHS appointment is near I’d go to that as it may suit your needs and save you money. Worth trying, mine have made a big difference to my feet. My NHS ones aren’t thick and they fit in my shoes but I do take the original insoles out to give a bit more room too.
I am going to the nhs appointment as I went in August and we looked at insole and one went to lab to put memory foam on top . I thought they had gone on strike or something and had given up but had call yesterday and the insole have come in. So will definitely go. I was not sure what to do about appoi tment today though. I have can cancelled for now and will see how I get on. Rang doctor today for appointment unable to see a doctor but given physio appoi tment. Will ask for letter to give to work about their shoes.
I have NHS custom made insoles and I’m very happy with them. I’ve had no problems fitting them in my shoes, like Kitty J I often take the removable insole out first. When I first put them in a pair of shoes I try it both ways (with and without the removable insole) to see which is most comfortable.
If you want to save time and energy go private but do check around prices vary along with expertise. As a family with hypermobilty we have used nhs orthotics for years but the service has got worse and worse. Now on my 5th appt over a 6 month period and they still havent made an orthotic that fits my feet and one i can walk on. The cost to the nhs means i could have got nearly 3 privately made ones. 😪😪 still waiting to hear about the latest pair.
I watch the orthotics on nras yesterday. Thete are only 350 orthotics in the uk. Long waiting time. Will collect the insole that I waiting for me on 2 Jan at the nhs clinic. And if need further help I will go private.
Yes understand that had to ask quite a few times for a referral and really push for it. Physio eventually referred after seeing foot issues and pain I was in
I agree with others. I would go. I’ve had awful feet issues for years & have very uncomfortable inner soles that hardly fit into anything even the deepest trainers I can find. I’ve just had foot surgery on both feet one toe amputated & a further one pinned. Neither were successful & in dreadful pain. The NHS can only offer a one size fit all so will be going privately in the new year myself. At least that way you know what is available to make a choice.
I would keep your appointment with the private podiatrist as I was advised the NHS ones ore being phased out . This being so the private sector will be our only option in future. To spite the cost.
