Swollen knees

I have inflammatory arthritis, Osteo arthritis, Sjogrens and now have been diagnosed with FND . I also have/ had Polymyalgia . I had a hip replacement in 2017 and at that time I was suffering with painful knees. I have been on various medications and am on Imraldi and Methotrexate. I have had several steroid injections in my knees over the years. I used to have the fluid drained off but that stopped as no one could get any out of the knee itself any more. My Rheumatologist then started taking fluid from a side area which no one else has ever done. He won't do that now after an Orthapedic Dr sent him a letter about injecting me, saying I had had enough injections, yet the Orthapedic Dr won't give me a new knee as it is half O/a, half Inflammatory arthritis. However this swelling is still there and feels worse. Rheumatologist is reluctand to change medication because he says that it works elsewhere and I have no reactions to anything.

Has anyone had swollen knees replaced and does the swelling then go away? thank you.

Hi Bailey I feel your pain totally, my knees have gone through very similar as yours, though mine are bone on bone now & been referred for FKR, when ever that might be. I’ve been told the steroid injections have added to the demise of my knees, which I can totally understand (if we could turn back time) as I don’t feel I was fully informed back then. I have found rubbing castor oil into my knees regularly (especially before bed) yes it’s thick & sticky but I gave it a try from a tip on heal naturally & taking a good quality olive oil daily is making a difference, don’t get me wrong it’s not a complete healer but it is slowly helping with inflammation & movement. Sorry I can’t give you the answer you seek but do a bit of research it may be helpful. 🌸

Hi Durrell, Thank you for your reply. I was told about my knees being damaged from the injections, although not until years after many. I have some castor oil so will try that.I do hope you don't have to wait too long to have a new knee. I have been referred a second time, so will see this time.
