Does anyone have any recommendations for how to find a private specialist rheumatology physiotherapist in my area? I'm looking for someone who specialises in hypermobility, and do not want to wait for a referral from my local hospital, as I have an issue which needs to be looked at now. I'm not sure I can ask the specific recommendations on this forum, so apologies if that is not allowed.
I am in the Herefordshire area, but can travel to Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Avon, Oxfordshire.
Thank you so much

I did mine by looking at who worked at the NHS trusts in my area and then researched all the names on the private hospitals and made my decision this way. If you choose someone who is linked to your hospital they can see you on the NHS as well (check first if you can)
Hi. Look on the Physiofirst website. You should be able to find a fully qualified physio and their expertise and specialist practice, in your chosen location. Not all private physios work in private hospitals. Link attached (if allowed).
a lot of physios work independently and have their own practice, and are not associated with private hospitals. Even just putting physio into google will come up with local physios, whose web pages tend to give good biographical information as to what they specialise in. I’m not aware of private physios being able to transfer you to their nhs list, as nhs physios usually require referral from a dr, although with Consultants they can transfer your care.
I would just Google ‘Spire hospital near me’ and search through the consultants or ring their outpatients phone number and have a chat with their office staff who are always extremely helpful. Good luck
If you have a rheumy nurse ask her…I’m sure a lot of people are in your position & your nurse will know which physio patients hae used & been happy with .
I’ve had a few bits and bobs of physio over the years and by far the most knowledgeable practitioner was one at the hospital. If not a specialist rheumy physio she had certainly had RA training. I’d deffo seek one out the way Deeb suggests, mine really helped me
You can use the hcpc register for registered physios in the UK and then check out the specialities of the ones in your area. You will then know that they are suitably qualified to help you.
Thank you so very much for all your replies. I have followed up your suggestions, and things are looking promising, so I really appreciate your taking the time – best wishes to you all
