uti problems caused by RA drugs

I wrote a long careful post to Gilly this morning , about RA drugs causing UTIs and it has disappeared????

Had amazing vey long session with your consultant ! First time I’ve been listened to or, actually looked at. Seronegstive and other things , on steroids . So tired now. X

Well , can’t write it all again . But, I had repeated UTIs every time I injected the biologic Adilamumab. I’d not had them before. My unpleasant rheumatologist refused to discuss a possible link . My cardiologist stepped in , worried about my trips to A and E and frequent anti biotic courses. I contacted the pharmaceutical company who deliver this drug and they were so helpful. It seems SOME people do suffer UTIs as a side effect if this drug. Not all!I stopped the injections and the uti s stopped too. I had wanted it to work. Been on no RA drugs for 2 years.I , like every one needs to trust my consultant so I am pinning a great deal on my long awaited appointment today. I hope you get sorted and can move on !!

I have been in Mtx for a year and Hydroxychloroquine for four months so it’s difficult to know if there is a link. This is the first UTI I have ever had so I’m just wondering why and why it won’t clear !!!

It is difficult !!! I sympathise!! Utis are really lowering !! Hope you see a good person who can think “ outside the box”. Keep warm !! Find a good uplifting book !

I feel your pain. I was getting UTI’s frequently and I started taking probiotics and cranberry D-mannose gummies, so it seems to be working for the last 10 months.
