I do and go to GP and ask for the Eplay manourve it will stop in it normally in one go, also GP’s can prescribe anti dizziness meds which work well. I get very sick with BPPV and take also then anti sickness pills too. If your GP can’t do Eplay then find a private doctor who can. We obviously can’t give medical advice only talk about our own experiences but Eplay is a life saver if done well and quickly. You can find exercises on line to help such as keep turning head when laying down but it can be horrid to do at first but worth looking at. It does help holding onto something and taking time to allow the ear and brain to coincide. The first bout is worse, I lost my voice through sickness once for over a week due to BPPV so it’s not trivial at all.
But before you attempt to do those exercises you must be diagnosed with which side you need to turn your head…if you turn it the wrong way you can make the dizziness work.
When I first had the Epley manoeuvre the neurologist wrote down all the instructions after he had checked which side I should start …& as you say it works really well.
Ask if your area has a specialist vertigo physiotherapist. I was sent to one by a neurologist when I had (fortunately MOSTLY mild) vertigo for several years. There are several different types of vertigo and each needs different treatment. The physio did a number of tests and I was diagnosed with visually induced vertigo, so the Epley manouevre, which others have mentioned, wasn't appropriate for me. I was given a series of exercises to do which gradually retrained my eyes and ears to work together. Good luck - vertigo is awful!
I have had vertigo twice. The first time the gp did eplay on me and gave me exercises, the 2nd time I was sent to ent the doctor manipulated my neck back for me, it's the most unpleasant illness to have. Hope you get sorted soon. Take care and stay safe.
I've had Vertigo although not Covid related and ended up in hospital. I had the Eply manoeuvre and it stopped one eye twitching. I also had medication. I had a couple of out patient physio appointments and followed their exercises. It was a one off episode. Hope you recovery soon but see your GP if not
I hope yours goes soon. I had it earlier this year. I must admit I had so many other issues, I just rode through it. I had episodes over a few weeks and then thankfully it went for me. Good luck to you.
I agree with Ascidian. It depends what type of vertigo you have as to how long it might last and which treatment might help you. I am currently being treated by a physio at the hospital as I had chemotherapy earlier this year, which affected my Cerebellum (the part of the brain which controls balance). In my case, the Epley manoeuvre wouldn't work, as the vertigo is not related to my inner ear. They thought it might have been that at first, because I spent so long lying in a hospital bed. But they ruled it out after asking me a series of specific diagnostic questions. I now have to do daily balance exercises to retrain my brain - in the same way that patients who've had a stroke might re-build their neuropathways in that area of the brain. It's definitely helping, but it's slow progress for me. Of course, this may not be the cause of your post-covid vertigo. It could be crystals in your inner ear, but its important that someone qualified diagnoses you properly before embarking on any treatment... anothet example - it could be caused by low blood pressure. Hope you get on the road to recovery soon - you have my every sympathy, whatever is causing it! 😊
Hi I had terrible dizziness with covid and got thisStemetil Tablets contain a medicine called prochlorperazine maleate. This belongs to a group of medicines called ‘phenothiazine antipsychotics’. It works by blocking the effects of a chemical in the brain.
Stemetil Tablets can be used to:
Treat balance problems or dizziness (vertigo). This includes problems of the inner ear such as ‘Meniere’s Syndrome’ or ‘labyrinthitis’.
It worked really well and other girls I work with used it for the same thing
The symptoms vertigo (light dizzy throughout the day) symptom my be long COVID effect called brain fog. I too having post Post COVID symptoms such as brain fog (light dizzy throughout the day) and elevated heart rate. But surprisingly my lung function FEV and FVC has increased, but feeling more shortness of breath than before. Astonishingly my eyesight improved (power changed from -3 to -2 ) and My weight increased during the period.
For me the dizziness stops when reducing the body temperature through bathing or cool beverages.
