Hello everyone. Can you have a flare up with normal CRP levels?
Thank you
In short yes …..I rarely had raised CRP levels when I had a flare before my RA was under control….which according to my rheumatologist is not unusual.
I've never had a raised CRP and I was diagnosed over 30 years ago.
Oh yes. Many a time but mine never goes above 1 or 2 all the 34 years I’ve had RA even if it’s patently obvious I have sausages for fingers and can hardly move and ESR is through the roof………
i can!
definitely do here
I have ankylosing spondylitis, and the NASS charity quote that 50% of patients ever have raised markers. Always have it loaded on my phone to remind the team, as that’s always their first comment when I say I’m flaring😂
The only time my CRP is raised is when I have an infection and know about it. My team luckily take my word for it and I thank god they don’t always have to prod me to find out. Always a good idea to let them know though.
Yes most definitely. It took me 9 years to be diagnosed with RA as I’d never had high inflammatory markers. Initially it was sero negayRA which changed at some point to sero positive but still my levels just totter around 5-6 when having a flare up x
Me too - inflammatory markers are never high even when in a major clinically obvious flare . One consultant will have that its mostly OA -until dhe sees the ultra sound or MRI (or me at a f to f)
I’ve never failed to be given appropriate meds though
I had a recent flair up my crp was normal so ultrra sound scan was done that showed no innflamation even though my hands were swollen I was told its not my ra and I now have osteo even though it feels the same as ra .I give up I've had resting splint made today at physio 🙉
