I think this is a question for your doctors, do you have a contact where you had the infusion? If not then I’d call your rheumy/nurse for advice if you think it’s the rtx but it could of course be unrelated.

I have been on Rtx for 7 years & have never had anything like that.

Before trying to treat it yourself I’d check with your rheumy nurse…..or the Bio nurses who give the infusion….. it might be something completely unrelated….& it could be something that needs to be kept dry…except for prescribed medication.

We all tend to think any new symptom might be caused by RA treatment ….but do check before you put anything on the sores.

Do please let us know if it does turn out to be Rtx related.

Hi and thanks for the reply. It’s so hard to get to talk to someone that I thought I’d try and treat it myself but it does feel very, very sore.

If you can’t speak to anyone on your rheumy team do try your GP…..if you live close enough to the surgery…pop in & ask if the Practice Nurse would have a look at the sores. …she probably won’t know anything about Rtx..,but depending on her professional opinion….she should either help you herself….or she will most likely have better access to your rheumy team,

But do get some advice as soon as you can & personally I would not attempt to wash my hair until you know what you are dealing with.

You usually need to,keep any ulcer like lesion dry…except for what is treating it.

if you can’t see any of the people you’re thinking of, if your hospital has a Minor Injuries Unit, they will have a look at it for you.

As AC says a practice nurse will have access to a GP if necessary or go to a pharmacy and speak to the pharmacist- they are much more useful than most people think for minor medical problems. I wouldn’t treat it yourself until you know what’s caused it as you may do more harm than good. It may not be related to RTx but who knows. Good luck, hope you get it cleared up soon.

I’ve been in Rituximab for years and never had anything like that. As others have said I’d get it checked out. Hope you find relief soon.

I too just had second rituximab infusion. Any skin sores you should go to the doctor. I have a boil . I ignored it but made myself very ill as we have areally compromised immune system. I’m on antibiotics now . Don’t ignore or risk it

just another thought, you haven’t had your hair bleached recently have you and you could have burns from that? 😊

Hi Bb Have you managed to get any advice yet on the sores?

I’m sure those of us on Rtx would like to know if it has caused skin lesions..& if it has….what treatment is advised.
