I have intertrigo under my breasts, trying all sorts inc Steroid creams & Sudocrem, I know my suppressed Immune System is not helping. I am on MXT 20 mgm weekly, and the usual Folic Acid dose.It just makes me cry. any tips would be so gratefully rec'd . My skin is really dry too. I am in a Care Home, and the warm dry atmosphere doesn't help. thank you.

Have you seen a doctor about this? If you have then you need to let them know what they’ve prescribed isn’t working. The mtx just brings your immune system back to that it should be so not over suppressed so won’t be making it worse. I’d try your doctor before they close for the weekend. 🤞🏻

I get redness and itchy rash under my breast at times and do find using canestans cream work. The longer it goes on the harder it it to get rid of. Hope you find something to help.

Thrush? That's what I have had on and off for years if I'm not really careful about looking after the skin under my breasts. It just looks to me (in the mirror) like redness but it's really sore and makes wearing a bra very uncomfortable - but if I don't wear a bra the skin surfaces rub together even more!

When it's sore I treat it just as I would a baby's bottom - keep it as dry as possible, put canestanc cream on regularyl after careful washing and drying, change the bra every day. I did try talcum powder a long time ago, but rapidly gave that up as it caked and made things worse. And I don't use a bra with any wire as I found that put pressure on the sore areas. A deep band under the cups is best for me. I've also used a muslin cloth under the edge of the bra on occasions. This can be changed several times a day to keep the area dry.

Once the soreness has gone I go back to using an oatmeal type cream (I use Aveeno, but there are others) regularly morning and night. I'm on immune supressants and also steroids, so I'm aware that thrush is very likely for me in any damp areas and now I have sagged with age, this is one of those areas.

Hope all that helps!

I’ve found Bepanthen cream good. It’s actually designed for nappy rash but I find putting a small amount on under my breasts at the first sign of any dampness/soreness is enough to stop it developing into anything worse. It creates a very good breathable barrier. Before I started this I had big trouble with it getting very sore and red.

Hi, have you tried Medihoney barrier cream. Recommended to me by a nurse during one of my hospital stays. Best wishes

You need to ask your doctor for anti fungal treatment…..intertrigo will spread if it isn’t treated.

If you can’t contact your GP yourself, do ask the manager of your care home to help you get it treated immediately ….. your health & well being is part of her job.

I hope it settles down soon.

when I worked in the hospital we used to use cannestan cream with good results. I regularly use it under my boobs, when I get sweat rash.

I found Germolene clears any soreness I get.

I can’t add anything to others suggestions for treating the problem, but many years ago I discovered the best way to prevent ‘underboob sweat’ and resulting soreness was to apply a slick of my solid stick underarm antiperspirant deodorant under my breasts. I use Mitchum 48 hour unscented and find it works a treat - stops any dampness and also creates a barrier between my skin and my bra, and works just well when not wearing a bra.

Hi, my doctor took me off the soaps I had been using saying that I may be having an allergic reaction. I am using “free” detergents for about a year and found a difference. But recently a breakout prompted my doctor to tell me to start using Cetaphil instead of soaps on my skin. I found they have a self foaming pump bottle and it has helped in places like under my breasts, the crease at the top of my thighs, my face in particular which had been so dry it was flaking. I like the product.

(After my breast surgery 9 years ago, I had an itchy rash under my breasts that drove me crazy, my surgeon prescribed a powder, I don’t remember what it was called but it did help.)

I use Cuticura medicated talcum powder for any sweaty areas - it's good for dry skin and very comforting. But as others have suggested above let your doctor know what she suggested isn't working.

I use Daktacort ointment which contains miconazole and hydrocortisone. Prescription from GP

I had intertrigo in my armpits while on methotrexate and was prescribed daktacoort. It didn't clear up and was given a stronger cream. It took 12 weeks for it to clear. I found vaseline better than suncream. Hope it clears up soon, it's very uncomfortable.

I use Canestan HC cream for this and find it is effective. However you now need to get a prescription for this as it contains Hydrocortisone.

once I laid some paper towel in between my breasts all day and it was very soothing. Aveeno Cream or lotion is very good for the skin . Good for excema. too.

It’s really not nice to have soreness under your boobs is it 😕😕. I use Cuticura medicated powder, which really helps, especially in hot weather. However, I had a mammogram about a month ago and the skin split while they were pulling my boobs about. It’s taking ages to heal, I’ve been putting sudocreme on too. I guess being on immunosuppressive meds plus my diabetes is hindering the healing process. It’s so flippin sore though!!

Hope you get sorted, sounds like canestan is a good option too
