Hi Jazmaz I had the exact same thing when I had an allergic reaction to an increase in methotrexate. You need to contact your rehumy nurse.

Go to your GP or contact your RD nurse. It could be a reaction to the medication you are on or could suggest a kidney problem. When I was nursing in a hospice we found liquidised cucumber soothed itching. Worth a try?

Hi there

Itching is often a sign of a liver issue. Too much something in the blood irritating the skin. Also allergic reactions. I would go to gp and get them to do bloods. I've been itchy too this week and had my bloods done this morning ( 7.30 😱) I've had a reaction to a new painkiller.

Let us know how you get on

It's side effects off the drugs your taking consult your doctor

I have two conditions that make me itch. Vasculitis and Nodular Prurigo. Not caused by any drugs, side effects of drugs, liver problems or any other thing. Tests proved all these were not involved in my itchiness. I use Dermol 500 both as a soap replacement, and an emollient. Double base gel is good too. These can be bought OTC or on prescription. One or the other might bring some relief while you are getting your doctor or consultant to investigate. xx

As others have put, always seek the advice of a professional, but in my case it was indeed a reaction to medication. Could have quite comfortable sandpapered my own skin off. Omeprazole (and its family) did it for me. Currently, I have a hideous itch "under" my hair ( Scalp area) but painful if I touch the area but that is suspected as an aftermath of my recent Shingles attack.

The welts sounds like hives. Definitely report it to your doctor as soon as you can, as it could well be an allergic reaction.

Do you have Rheumatoid Arthritis? If so it may be due to any number of things, medications included. Otherwise have you checked if it's a reaction to the heat we've been having recently? It can affect people in different ways, or if you take meds for any other condition, they may the be the cause, particularly if there's a new one been prescribed. It's always best to see your GP as others have said, particularly if it's a side effect of one of your meds do report it to your prescriber.
