Low platelets

Hi I'm on toclizumab I had a phone call after visiting clinic about my platelets being low 113 is the number does toc make them low or high or even if it is toc could be something else I can't seem to find a proper answer I'll have repeat bloods done again I can't think of anythink else that would cause it .probably a just a random blood result .

Hi 😊 I'm on Tocilizumab too. I'm also on Methotrexate (Metoject) and Sulfasalazine. Hopefully, it's just a blip 🤞I have trouble with a high AFP (liver results) and low neutrophils, but Tocilizumab really works for me. It's a balancing act.

My husband's Platelets are too high and he is on chemo to bring them down to about 500. If they go too high they cause blood cancer. I don't know what happens if it goes too low though darling i am sorry i can't help. xxxx

It can be an issue with biologics . When I was on one my platelet count went down to eight, at which point I was in a mess and had to be hospitalised for a week until they could get it to 25 and rising. It was treated with massive does of steroids and I had to come off the biologic I was on. Don’t worry yourself, they’ll keep you monitored and if necessary change you to a different drug. If you suddenly start getting massive unexpected bruises, bleeding from the mouth or blood in your pee, then get yourself to A&E.

Hi. My platelets are usually quite low due to medications. My consultant said he wouldn't worry so long as they didn't go below 100.
