armpit redness

I’ve got this redness around both armpits and I’m not sure what this could be, I’ve started running but I wash straight after. Any help or creams I could use to prevent this

unaccustomed friction perhaps? Try a barrier cream.

If you're on any immune suppressants it could be a fungal infection. If it doesn't clear up on it's own the GP will prescribe you something topical.

Or you can purchase from a chemist who will look at it for you too

It looks like a rash you might get if you put on anti perspirant too soon after shaving……?

looks like sweat rash with the friction of the skin whilst running.

I’d suggest washing with something like Dermol 500 and then using a suitable barrier cream. I’ve used Hydromol, to good effect.

I don't know what immunosuppressants you are on, but I am on MTX, Hydroxychloroquine and a Jak inhibitor as well as Pred. I have recently been prescribed a fungal/steroid cream for a fungal infection under both armpits, I tend to perspire alot at work, and like you I wash when I get home. The ointment seems to be working like a charm, almost gone after 10 days. I've got a repeat on my script in case I need it again, as my GP says these infections are common in immunosuppressed individuals. Hope this helps might be worth it to have this looked at.

Could you share the name of the cream your doctor prescribed? I have a bad rash which is fungus-related. Thanks in advance!

Buy the look of it and locations it seems to be abrasion, from skin rubbing against itself while you run. If it were fungal, it would likely be in the middle of the shaved zone.

IDK much about creams, but maybe corn starch (used nowadays instead of carcinogenic talcum, before you run. If you sweat it will soak up the moisture and maybe lubricate. A little hyaluronic acid powder would increase the lube effect and is great for your skin. I buy it by the kilo on Aliexpress. I take about 220mg daily in my morning coffee. I take it for acid reflux, but it's as good for your skin taken inside as out.

Not what you're looking for?
