Hi Slate I would think that's something for your rheumy to advise you about .Speaking from personal experience, I am on methotrexate and I take it as well as my biologic (Cimzia) although after a while they reduced the amount gradually from 20mg to 10.
I hope the biologic works for you. I've been on mine for 9 years and it has made such a difference.
All the best x
You need to check with your consultant 👍 I take daily hydroxychloroquin tablets and weekly methotrexate (metrojet pen) as well as my biologic every two weeks. Good luck 😃
Often a biologic is taken in combination with the older DMARDS such as you are on currently. I started Enbrel while on Sulf and stayed on both for a while before reducing the sulf and stopping entirely. Others stay on combination therapies the whole time. Each person is different and your Rheumy will discuss with you your needs. If you needed a wash period before starting the new meds then that should have been said already. If you're feeling unsure always safest to contact your biologics nurse or Rheumy.
Hope the new drugs arrive soon and they are hugely effective and sideffect free for you. Good luck!
My biological is a top up baricitinib with a view to reviewing my other meds over time 🙋🏻♀️
