Just wondering if anyone else has had this.I had an eye operation a week ago , which went well but I found it really traumatic. I normally just put up with and cope with what life has thrown at me but thus has floored me.
My RA inflammation has stayed under control but I'm so fatigued. I've never slept so much in my life! 2 hours after getting up I feel the need to go back to bed.
Do you think it's the shock?
I only had local anesthesia, no sedation.

Well, in the absence of any other illness (apart from your RA which is under control) there’s no reason for such fatigue after a local anaesthetic. Maybe you’d been building yourself up and were in a state of anxiety about the op and now it’s over you’ve gone soggy with relief and need to sleep!
If you don’t get over the fatigue, get checked out as you may be cooking something up which hasn’t yet manifested itself. Hope it’s nothing nasty and you recover very soon.
fatigue is the hidden symptom of RA. Just because you’re not swollen or in pain does not means it’s not active. Just go with flow until things run its course. My worst symptom sleep my life away
I had a mole off my face a few years ago and was shattered for about three days. I reckon it's because you might consciously know your body wasn't attacked by someone with a knife, but your body doesn't the difference between that and what a surgeon does. Maybe give the GP a call on Monday if you don't get better over the weekend.
After hip replacement I had to say don’t come in my room for at least 2 hours in the afternoon because I need to sleep. This continued for a while when I got home. Had a spinal block and sedation so no general. I think they thought I was a crazy woman. Have to stick up for yourself and look after yourself 😊
I think it’s probably down to the build up and resulting op. I’m pleased it went well but I would probably expect that you may well take a few days to ‘get over it’ don’t beat yourself up about fatigue it can happen for no reason and you have a good one. So be kind to yourself take time to recover and maybe a treat will do you good too.
This is how the body heals needs all the energy to heal so less for usual routine. Drink lots of water and juices, eat small healthy meals. Speedy recovery
Trauma of any kind can floor you. It is your bodies way of insisting that you rest up properly. Have at least a week in bed/ sofa. Wimbledon is on which may help.. If you need longer than that… take it.
