6th Covid jab

Hi there, hope you're doing fine in this heat. At least in my place we had lovely sunny days lately. Could I ask around, what's your opinion about me taking the 6th dose of Covid vaccine if only on 15 mg Metoject and not being considered severely immunosupresed. Would you go for it?

On the 30th June law is changing, we know this I believe, and Covid online booking won't be available anymore, only for our case type of patients and in autumn time.

So, once a year.

Shall I go now or wait to see what my GP would advise from autumn onwards.

To mention I am a student nurse in direct contact with patients of all sorts and have another long block of placements starting in 2 weeks time.

Sending hugs to you all xx

Hi there, if they are offering you the jab I would get it. I had my 6 th jab last week. I think we need all the help there is? Other people on here will have their own thoughts. Take care.

it’s entirely up to you, it doesn’t matter what people on here are doing really. I’m not having any more but that’s what I’ve decided and you should do what you feel is right for you. If you do a search and filter for NRAS then there will be recent posts about this.

As a nurse surely you more than anyone understand the risks and so why not get the 6 th dose? It can’t do any harm and as vacccines wane it just tops up the level of protection we need.

Hi, it’s a really personal situation isn’t it? I too work for the NHS myself and in the higher risk category still due to my meds, steroids, DMARD and biologic so appreciate my situation with meds is different to yours. I have just had my 7th covid vaccine recently and in the end made the decision to have it as working in a hospital setting we come into close contact with hundreds of people a week in our job roles and want to keep my patients/colleagues and me as safe as possible. This new strain of covid is quite contagious again it seems so I had the spring booster which is 7th covid vaccine. Whatever you decide has to be right for you. Take good care. x

I'm on 25mg metoject. I had my 7th vaccine last month.I'll keep having them as long as they are offered.

Hi, in New Zealand the latest booster is the Pfizzer bivalent vaccine which produces an immune response against the original virus and Omicron variants. Specifically the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants. I will continue to have all boosters offered, as I have with the annual influenza vaccination. I haven't yet had Covid (I'm fairly careful and usually mask) and I can't remember the last time I had flu. All medical staff have to wear masks.

I'm sure you'll do what is right for you.

Like Carolsos below, if you are offered the jab I would take it. I had my 7th jab this spring. But you must do what you are comfortable with. Good luck.

😊 I have booked myself for the 6th one. I believe in science, yes!It is complicated when you work with facts, but your family is whispering all those conspiracy theories into your ears.

We all believed in science during the first days of pandemic, I guess, looking forward to their fix. Now that we have it, we stress around it, see the small proportion of risks rather than the massive benefits of it!

We managed to stop a pandemic, don't we!

However, all my respects to those that decided not to have the vaccines!

We are the owners of our bodies!

Thank you to you all! Sending hugs 🫂

Just because you don't get a 6th, 7th 8th, 9th, 10th... 100th covid jab doesn't mean you don't believe in science.

I had my 7th jab at the end of April. Still managed to catch covid off my husband last week! For the second time. But it was extremely mild, just like a slight cold or hay fever. So I’m glad I had the vaccines.

You have obviously been offered the jab or you wouldn't be asking the question. I would say have it but only you can decide. It's your body. Good luck.

I had my 7th vaccine this month as immunosuppressed. So far I’ve avoided catching covid even tho I go out regularly and been on holiday x

last year I got a viral infection(not covid) and my biologic stopped working after it. So nearly the whole year I struggled to get back into remission.

I really, really want to avoid more infections so I’m having my 6th at the end of this month!

If you can get one, go for it. Especially as you will be coming into contact with it. Better safe than sorry.
