filgotinib and antibiotics
I believe the recommendation is that you stop Filgotinib until the antibiotics are completed and the infection healed. However, personally I have continued with Filgotinib whilst taking antibiotics.
Ask your pharmacist….they know al the contra- indications.
Hi. I had bronchitis at the beginning of April, rang rheumatology and was told to stop Filgotinib until both courses of antibiotics were over. If that helps……..Hope your infection quickly clears up.
Thankyou for reply.Saw g.p.today who gave me topical antibiotic cream and said it was o.k. to resume filgotinib after a few days if responds to cream. So missed yesterday, will miss tonight and tomorrow and see how it goes.once again thanks for advice,as will not take any chances with JAK as fantastic for joints, better than I could have hoped for.best wishes
Hi Doodle, I've been on Filgotinib nearly 18 months & was told at the beginning by the rheumy to stop it temporarily if I got a significant infection, or had tooth extractions, got covid etc. I stopped it for a week when I got covid and for a few days when I had a nasty mouth infection & needed strong anti-biotics, just to let the immune system fight back a bit to avoid infection worsening. No problem. I suppose it depends how bad an infection is & how you feel too. Good luck and hope it clears up!
