Hi,
I have psoriatic arthritis/spondylitis. I take Golimumab monthly and was until recently taking sulfasalazine. I'm now taking methotrexate.
In the last 2 years I have had 3 surgeries for hernia. 1st, for a bilateral inguinal hernia, then a spegelian hernia which appeared after the 1st surgery. I then had open surgery on this which failed some months later after walking. I did another surgery this March which was both via video and open. I now have the feeling that this last one has failed too. Pain is increasing and a mass reappearing on my right flank. I will see the surgeon on Friday.
I'm not so old, 58 and Ive been on a very generous leave from work (and no, i dont do manual work). So why is this happening, I wonder?
Can spondylitis affect abdominal muscle integrity or the healing process? Or the drugs I'm taking? I did stop taking all medication before and for a couple of weeks after the surgery.
When I've put this question to doctors they've all said that there's no connection. Nor can I find anything on google. But I thought I'd try here. It has been difficult.
Cheers and all the best
