I hope this post finds you as well as you can be today 🥰
Well, I woke early this Bank Holiday Monday, and have been reading...
I read many articles this morning (including the article above), and have listened to some podcasts. All very interesting.
I was wondering if any of you have/are/intend to try Curcuma longa and Boswellia serrata?
I love reading about people's experiences. I will say that I fully back the fact that we must all ask our medical team before we introduce any supplements, obviously, and that none of us would encourage poor decisions.
I'm looking forward to reading your replies!

Morning. I use it alongside a few other supplements, so hard to know exactly what is helping. I have to say I'm not on any other arthritis meds at the moment other than steroid shots. Also due a fluoroscopy injection.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am on Tocilizumab and Methotrexate injections, alongside Sulfasalazine tablets. I'm considering taking this supplement, as I am also on the beginning rung of osteoporosis. My liver ALT is a little high, plus I have high cholesterol. I take a statin too. I don't take steroids atm, because my RA meds are keeping everything at bay 🤞Good luck on your journey 😊
Turmeric and Frankincense ? I've not tried either but do like the smell of Frankincense. I get a bit worried as take a lot of medications and although I am well do have Kidney Disease so will in general avoid anything not prescribed by my doctors. I'd suggest as some stuff can affect clotting and the kidneys its always best to check as you say with your healthcare professionals. I don't like the taste of Tumeric or Corriander (soap) either. lol x
Thanks for replying 🙂 I can't stand turmeric or corriander either - I have that soapy taste reaction too! They say that people have different reactions to those tastes.
"A genetic survey of nearly 30,000 people posted to the preprint server arXiv.org this week has identified two genetic variants linked to perception of coriander, the most common of which is in a gene involved in sensing smells1. Two unpublished studies also link several other variants in genes involved in taste and smell to the preference2,3."
I was told no to Boswellia/frankincense (but not sure it was fhe same extract you mention) many years back in 1995 when first diagnosed. Told by a senior rheumy nurse specialist it would interfere with Sulphasalazine and that Boswellia was a very powerful plant sterol. Not sure if this thinking has changed any 28 years on, but always best to run any herbals by your rheumy team.
Boswellia serrata I did a lot of research on as many good pointers for it but my RA team said no with the contradictions with all the meds on. It is something I have on a back burner if I get over all the drugs and fed up and want to try something different.
Yes, See if your JAK is doing enough first. What my nurse was concerned about was if it (the Boswellia) protected your joints enough. She thought not. x
There is something on Boswellia on UTube written but a U.K. GP…but in the end it’s just a sales pitch for a pill he has cobbled together after he had an accident. So presumably he is talking about Osteoarthritis.
