Afternoon everyone, well i had to see the nurse to get my dressing changed and i had hoped i would come away without having to have anything on it. Well that didn't happen and she put more paper stitches on the toe and when she went to clean part of i nearly went through the roof. Anyway i have to go again next Monday to get it changed again as it hasn't healed yest. Some of it has healed and some of it hasn't. So no proper baths for me yet for a few weeks yet. I hope it has healed before we go away on Monday 1st May.
My leg is still very painful and very bruised. The bruising has not changed much yet and i had to go into the opticians to get my glasses straightened as i had bent them when i fell over. My hubby says he saw bone when he had to dress it before i went to the hospital. So that toe is in a bad way.
Have a lovely afternoon everyone.xxxxxxx

I hope you are soon healing from that nasty fall and your toe is better. Toes are so painful even when you stub them and yours sounds very ouch. Take care. xx
Oh Sylvi ouch! Sounds incredibly painful. If you get desperate I think you can get a special waterproof thing to go over your foot that lets you take a bath. It’s got a neoprene cuff that keeps water out, I had one for my arm when I broke my wrist. I’ll try and remember what it’s called and let you know x
It’s called a Limbo and you can buy it on Amazon 😊
Toes maybe small and, most of the time, out of sight, be they are essential and can very extremely painful. We only find out how much we take them for granted when they go wrong. I can fully understand how concerned you must be, but you have to give it time to do its thing and you know that our healing rate is far slower than people without RA! I'm feeling your pain just from your post, and it's not good. Things can only get better, as they say. Best wishes. x
that does sound painful. I have 2 wounds on my leg, one from 9 month ago, the other 3 month. Both we’e refusing to heal, till I seen a different nurse. She suggested compression bandages, only been using them for 2 weeks, and the 9 month old wound has now scabbed, and the other progressing well. Not sure if that’s an option for you, given it’s your toes.
I have one of the neoprene covers that I use so I can either shower or bath. It says it will stand up to swimming, which I’m missing. Think I would draw some strange looks though as it’s massive and bright turquoise 😂. Hope it heals before your holiday 🤞
Hello Sweetheart, I'm sorry to hear that your toe is in a bad way, but very pleased to hear that you still have enough energy to go through the roof!Joking apart, I hope you heal well and quickly 🙏. xxx
I suppose, looking in the bright side, you have partial healing, so you’re going the right way. Hopefully the next dressing change will be the last one.
Not been around so had to check back to see what had happened, & ouch Sylvi! Sounds like you went with a real thump. I hope it isn't going to take much longer to fully heal.
Going back a long way, in fact our first year of marriage, my h sliced his big toe open on the corner of the bath. It was an old house & the bath had an opaque glass front with metal corners. We were going out to dinner for Valentine’s Day & he came in to see how much longer I'd be in the bath. In his exasperation his big toe hit the corner & slipped down metal edge, & boy, did it bleed. I wanted to go to A&E but because we were also meeting my best friend celebrating her surprise engagement he wouldn't go. At the time I hadn't thought of buying a first aid box & all I had to pack it once the bleeding was mopped up with loo roll & had slowed down were sanitary towels. I took a supply with me just in case, & they were needed. Next morning I got some steri strips from his Mum's nursery school & off we went to A&E so it was sorted properly. On the way back from hospital I bought a first aid kit from Boots. Ever since as well as a wedding gift we also wrap up a first aid kit, just because I wish someone had done so for us & because you never know when you'll need one!
Love your pic. We inherited a flowering currant in the back garden. It had got a bit unruly so last year my h cut it back quite hard, & I thought too late, so I wasn’t convinced it would flower but it has.
I pinched a bit and have put some rooting powder on it in the hope it will grow and stuck it in my garden. We have a first aid kit in the car and a full cupboard in one of our cupboards in the kitchen. xxxx
I took a hardwood cutting to grow on & the following spring planted it the front garden. It’s growing nicely, though it is in the same situation as the big one in the back even though it gets more direct wind off the sea.
I am at the drs this morning to get the dressing changed this morning and we will see if it has healed any at all. Been down here all night long as i didn't sleep very well. xxxx
