Covid Vaccine - Spring Booster ๐ŸŒน

๐ŸŒA quick update:

I am due my spring covid vaccine on Monday, and was thinking about whether to stop my Mtx injections (Metoject) as I always do have this dilemma...and I came across this article:

evidence.nihr.ac.uk/alert/a...

It makes for an interesting read, in my opinion. I found one or two other recent studies too. I also have a weekly Tocilizumab injection and daily Sulfasalazine, which I won't stop, I don't think. ๐Ÿค”

I am fairly stable with my RA at the moment, luckily with normal levels of CRP and ESR. I actually forgot to injection my mtx last night ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธI might go and do that now, and then maybe...miss at next Wednesday's injection. That way it will be 13 days...

This is only my thinking, for me - I am not suggesting it for anyone else. But you lovely people are my sounding board. Thanks for listening. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Morning Peeps,

I hope this quick message finds you as well as you can be.

I have managed to login to the NHS Covid Booking system this morning, and have booked my spring vaccine.

People who are eligible, and vaccines to be offered:

gov.uk/government/publicati....

I know that some of you will choose to either go through your GP, or not to have it at all - your choice entirely; however, I'm just letting you know what I've chosen to do.

Well done and will wait to here from GP as here they are usually on the ball and itโ€™s closer than the centre.

Was contacted by my GP practice yesterday to make an appointment for the jab. Have managed to pick up a virus though and am worried about having the jab or if i ought to wait until I recover. What have others done? It feels as though it's going to turn into a chest infection, but it hasn't. ๐Ÿค”

It's absolutely your decision. If that were me though, I think I'd wait until I felt better. Talk to your GP though.

Thank you Moomin. Just needed someone to reinforce my feelings. Don't think my body could cope with something else to fight against. Enjoy, as well as you can, the Easter weekend. x

Still 23 miles away from my nearest walk in centre online and donโ€™t think I can do a bookable one from online. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I did my booked one online.

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply to Moomin8

I have had major problems online trying to book in the past as havenโ€™t followed the normal vaccine pathway so it wonโ€™t recognise what Iโ€™ve done and I need a walk in really although I will phone 119 and ask for their advice. Last time 119 said phone your GP and GP surgery said phone 119 ... so I went to a walk in. Now itโ€™s no longer there.

Thank you. Itโ€™s been like this all the way through since February 2021 so no difference!

I will wait until six months post retuximab. its been like this all the way. If my GP does a day which doesn't correlate I'll go to a walk-in.

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply to sunnyweek

That would give you a better chance of the vaccine having more effect 6 months post Rituximab. Just keep an eye/ear out as to what the vaccines centres plan to do after this booster and before the next ones but you will be near to the autumn booster then so that should work out for you. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’—

sunnyweek in reply to Neonkittie17

Thanks NK, I think the autumn one would be better, doubt I'd qualify for both, maybe too near each other, just keep it separate from the flu one. Happens yearly doesn't it all this juggling. Hope you are doing well x

Iโ€™ve had to do four vaccines in the last year at three monthly intervals to catch up and nudge my immune as directed by my immunologist but when I get this third booster in May-June Iโ€™ll finally be on track. Iโ€™m doing alright thanks. Steady away as they say! Hope you are too. x

I'm pleased you are doing alright and catching up with your jabs, you've managed it all so well, I miss talking retuximab with you, but glad your new drug is helping x

Thank you. It was the best thing ever for controlling all RA inflammation and my mobility was brilliant on it but as you know I had to stop it due to hypogamma. Iโ€™m glad itโ€™s working well for you still. ๐Ÿ’—x

Different system here in Scotland. I got a text yesterday with my appointment date and time. I could change it if not suitable but it fits in with my plans.

thanks Moomin8. My surgery doesnโ€™t always have me on the list for some reason so youโ€™ve prompted me to follow it up on Monday.
