Having to put Benipali on hold.

Advice from Specialist Nurse at the hospital to stop Benipali until I've seen the Gastroenterologist and had a colonoscopy. Recent CT scan showed Diverticulor disease and calcification of the Pancreas.The stomach issues 4 months after starting Beni. Coincidence? Also it's news to me that biological meds can effect the gut also having RA. I ended up in A&E on Sunday with terrible stomach pains. My RA consultant has been messaged so hope to get more information when the Specialist Nurse rings later. I just hope my appointments are soon as they are marked urgent . Since being on Beni for last 13 months my RA has improved remarkably. Anyone here been in the same position?

I have gum disease despite good dental hygiene and have suffered from SIBO for years. I think many with RA have bacteria in the saliva and gut that cause inflammation. If they sorted this out we would all be better. Good luck.

RA and gum problems yes but I have no gum problems and once thought as IBS for many years is DD.

It takes many years for diverticula to develop in the gut and it's a very common finding as you get older. Common things occur commonly!

Keep in mind that just because things happen at the same time, one is not necessarily causing the other, however much our minds try to make sense out of random happenings.

It was mistaken for IBS until recently also it's generic as that makes 3 of us in the family. Pancreatitis I don't even drink or smoke 😀
