I can't complain about the NHS, they have been great with me but today I was more impressed than normal.I've had a weird rash which comes and goes for about 18mths, I was seen by derm people last Feb... when the rash was away. The lady said ring them when it was back they'd do a biopsy.
I tried this last may to no avail but the rash is back.
I rang this morning, very helpful lady she spoke to the DR, told come in 3.15...got biopsy and out within the hour amazing.

Now that’s impressive, I don’t know how many times I’ve had a rash and not had the appointment on time. You just don’t know how long it’s going to last. My last rash I was lucky enough to see a dermatologist within a week and she got an urgent biopsy done in a few days. Turned out at last I got a diagnosis of lupus. Timing is everything. Well done NHS
Hi, Was your rash itchy or just bumpy? I have one on my elbow and it's not itchy, just raised. It's always there but it flares up from time to time but never itchy.
it was a weird rash, different from my usual rashes. It was round and I could actually peel the skin off without it bleeding. My dermo said they refer to it like lifting a carpet which was a good description, it was a wee bit itchy but never bled if I scratched it. It was all over my back, shoulders, a few on my face and scalp. They photographed every one I had at the hospital, I think she knew what it was before the biopsy and so did the rheumy consultant. It was like very dry skin, wish I’d taken a pic to show you, difficult to explain.
Thanks for your reply. I'm glad they were prompt for giving you a diagnosis. My rash is different. It's just raised bumps on the outer elbow joint. It's not itchy at all and flares from time to time but it's there permanently, but much smaller when not flaring up. I will show it to my rheumy simply because I'm curious.
My rash comes and goes, it's never itchy but slightly raised. It started all over my back in large irregular splotches with some on my belly, tops of legs and weirdly the undersides of my upper arms. I was worried about Lupus but it's not peeling. It starts bright red and slightly lumpy then fades to purple and goes.
I'm glad you're getting your rash investigated so promptly. I found having an itchy rash hideous and would have done anything to make it stop. I hope you get the results as quickly as the test.
The rash likely is the least of my current health worries but it's annoying coming and going so yesterday I decided to be proactive and ring. I'll let you know if they get to the bottom of it.
I might be becoming infamous at the hospital as yesterday's DR has a daughter who is a vet so was asking did I know her and last week the Dr had heard of me because he has a dog. 🙈 Years ago when I had a section for my twins the anaesthetist was a client...he prescribed me good pain killers. 👍
Hello wilbertjellyfish nice to hear of the good things with the NHS, My care in the past few years since my Knee operation has been much better than past considering the pressure the staff are under. But it is not good when you hear the general stories in the news of bad outcomes is it? I suppose also many things are not even treated these days we just pop to the chemist. Good luck with your Biopsy
