Hello 👋

If the GP has done the referral they usually contact within 24hrs. I’ve been referred twice but I had issues getting the referral each time. First time Boxing Day last year and the unit had only been open 5-6 days so no one knew how to refer me. Most recently September this year and new GP didn’t know anything about it either and told me to go to A&E 🤦🏻♀️.
Once the referral was eventually done I was contacted within 24 hrs and had the monoclonal antibody infusion each time. I know others were couriered antiviral tablets like Paxlovid.
I started with symptoms yesterday but negative so far so hoping I don’t have it for a third time 🤞🏻
I contacted 111 when I started with covid and a doctor called back the next day(21 hours ) later and referred me to our hospital for an antiviral infusion I believe some people are given tablets but it depends on what other medication you are taking. I am also on anticoagulants so tablets not appropriate.
I am sure you will hear back within the 24 hour period and be prescribed what’s necessary.
Don’t hold your breath.
I tested positive & the hospital called saying they would come & collect me for an antiviral infusion….but then they called back to say that it was too late.
I have had to muddle my way through contacting my GP to get some help,& now have a daily call from NHS checking how I am..,but the whole system in my area has been a mega disaster. I spent three days hardly able to breathe & nobody seemed to know what to do.
I hope you have better luck& get some help soon…but keep on at your GP.
Sorry to hear that AC - hope that you're on the mend 💐
Nope…the daily call has not happened, temp up & just bxxxxering on!
Sorry to hear this. If you are struggling maybe a trip to A&E?
No way to get there…& no way with a temperature am I sitting in A&E for hours.I’m warm at home & hopefully will be on the mend soon.
wishing you better very soon
Thank you…….sadly the daily call promised was just that ONE CALL nothing since. The whole set up is a shambles.
Sounds like our surgery, still have this awful cough after the Rex infusion, called the surgery every day this week, all I got was ,no appointments in the foreseeable future! Now in the 8th week! Fortunately I have an asthma review next Friday so hoping for some help then! But not holding my breath! Take care x
you can bring down your temp at home and A&E is for the seriously Ill only at present. Unless you’re in cardiac arrest you’ll wait for hours
Don’t worry I have no intention of visiting A&E …..ever!
I had a virus recently still getting over it. Similar symptoms to covid but negative each time I tested. I arranged a doctors appointment as O2 sats dropping below 90 and at times 80. The didn't listen to me or examine me either. Just gave me a broad spectrum antibiotic which I know doesn't work. So took my emergency antibiotics which I had a 2 weeks supply as I also have bronchiectasis. I felt so unwell. Someone said I should call 999 but I didn't want to be left in a corridor. I have lost faith with the NHS.
hope you are sorted soon
The medics are slow to get back to you as i found out before Christmas. We went to bed at 11pm and they didn't ring back until 12.30am so they will get back to you .xxx
Sorry to hear you’ve got COVID.
I’ve RA which is kept under control with biologics. I’ve now had COVID twice without antiviral treatment and been fine. Hope you can secure antivirals but if not and you’re fully vaccinated hopefully it won’t be too grim!
Get well soon.
Did you not get antivirals 4 months ago when you asked here about them then, procedure should be the same as then. Hopefully you’ve been contacted by now 😊
I think it took about a day for the CMDU to contact me after speaking to the GP. Then the antivirals arrived by courier the following day.
As you need to start them within 5 days of symptom onset I did get a bit anxious, felt like a race against the clock, but my experience was good.
ring 111 again to chase up. That’s what I did.
I never did get through to 111 they told me they were very busy …said to dial 111 again which I did …then they told me to press number two for Covid which I did the line went dead …I did that three days running!I presume I just hope to feel better & do a LFT when I do?
It makes me angry. I'm sorry you feel so poorly and they make a mess of everything. Let you down. I know A&E is not on the cards for you. If you get worse ring for an ambulance. x
In fact 111 rang me & they insisted on sending an ambulance & I have to see my GP…..she will be pleased …….NOT,
Well if they have acted it may be a good thing. What a start to the New Year! Get well soon x
Thanks I’m feeling better this morning…..guess I’m just a bit slow on the recovery front !
I’ll do that this evening
I tested positive yesterday, called 119 to register the positive test and was told someone should contact me within 24 hours. I asked what I should do if no contact and was told to call 111. Ive been on hold for 25 minutes so far!
it’s crazy
Finally spoke to someone after 45 minutes and was then told a clinician would call me within 4 hours. The clinician called after 2 hours but she said the out of hours GP would call and sort out antivirals- that was over 2 hours ago and still waiting.
I've had covid 4 weeks ago but didn't get offered antivirals, just told me to avoid contact with people, but though was positive for 10 days not really I'll with it.
How are you doing this morning? Hope you have made some progress with the antivirals by now? 🤞
hello. Nothing yet they called again lady and says they’ll call again
I was supposed to get a call back from the out of hours GP (arranged by 111) yesterday afternoon/evening - I’m still waiting! You don’t happen to be in Cambs, do you? Because that’s where I am and frankly I think this is absolutely rubbish! They have had the CMDUs set up for over a year now - there has to be a better way (and less wastage than having 2/3 people calling you back and then arranging things- or not arranging things as in my case!) I really think that they are just hoping that those of us who need this drug will just pop off quietly and they won’t have to waste money treating us if they can prolong this farce of prescribing the antivirals until we are dead!
I think it could be to late now as was told it works best if given in first 48 hours after testing positive. I had one the day after testing pot but the rheumatology department sorted mine out last Xmas
here’s the directory with direct contact to local CMDU units. Some are telephone contacts, others are emails. Hopefully it will help those of you struggling
thank you
I had a very similar experience in late September 2022. I took a Covid test and was confirmed positive. Because I'm one of the millions in this country that are classed as clinically extremely valuable, I contacted my Gp to be informed to contact my specialist. I then contacted my specialist to be told that there was no one available to take my call and advise me to contact NHS 111. I then called NHS 111 I went through their questionnaire to be told a doctor would contact me shortly which a Gp did and advised I needed to be administered the Antiviral drug and then someone will contact me to arrange this. To date and after several attempts of contacting NHS 111 going through the same questions and them coming to the same conclusion that I needed the Antiviral, I have still not received a call to arrange or administer this elusive Antiviral drug.
I'm glad to say that I've recovered from Covid-19.
I was couriered Paxlovid . Was told need to start within 7 days of positive test . As Bank Holiday today maybe worth chasing up tomorrow. Hope you have a light touch!!
Same happend to me, it took them 2 days to get back to me, a nurse asked 4 questions then told me I was going to get treatment some one would contact me. Another day passed then a Dr phoned me asked me 2 questions then said sorry according to government guidelines you are not able to get treatment.
Load of ---
call them back GP can chase this .
I caught covid on my 4th stay ion hospital & was rushed to the covid ward Thankfully i qualified for covalax which when taken prevents it from cloning itself & wiggling its posionous horns ready to infect you.If I hadnt qualified for it I wouldve died
This kraken subvariant of omicrom - the structure ot it is scary -its got 2 sets of horns .Its blue in colour then theres a big membrane covering it & theres horns on that too
