Rib pain

I was wondering if anyone gets flair ups in their ribs. I keep getting pain in my ribs and it just feels as though I've torn a ligament but I wondered if it might be a rheumatoid flair

Thank you I get it regularly. I totally forgot the doctor told me ages ago that's what it was but at the moment I'm getting fairs every day all over the place and I was thinking it might be that. You are right it is absolutely agonising. Can't sit comfortable. Can't lay comfortable and if I sneeze I nearly pass out x

I found either heat pad or cold pack helped a tad but nothing really took it completely away (sorry x).

Since my biologic has been working i havent hardly had it so hope you can get rid of this flare and maybe get steadier on controlling your RA . Fingers crossed 🤞

Yes thank you I do use a heat bag. I have rituximab infusions which usually controls the pain but I'm just about ready for my next one but can't have it because I'm having a run of water infection so haven't been able to have my methotrexate either because of anti biotics. I'm a mess at the moment

I have ankylosing spondylitis, and it’s one of my main areas of pain. My ribs have fused now and I have 0.8cm chest expansion. It results in getting short of breath easily, as well as all the muscles surrounding the ribs being in spasm. My GP prescribes slow release morphine for the pains, as the costochondritis part can feel like a heart attack. I use baclofen to relax the muscles, as well as heat pad and gentle stretches.

Yes - not often but usually around lower ribs -? would make me wonder about other chest pain causes but am reassured by rib and sternum tenderness. Annoying!

Yes I get a feeling like a muscle is in spasm, I have never questioned it just presumed its due to lung condition it usually goes off if I change body position, often get it in the dentist chair. Glad you posted nowI know what it might be from your replies. I also get cramp in my lower leg which can be horrendous depending on which muscle it is. My daughter takes tonic water for it as that seems to work for her.

I started to have horrendous pain in my left side by the ribs, it spread from the front around the side & into my back. It was so bad my gp gave me oramorph which is vile stuff, I couldn't sleep on my left side or sit in certain positions, it was also so painful trying to wash my hair in the shower as I always bend over to rinse the shampoo & conditioner out. The rheumatologist organised a scan which he said didn't show any inflammation, but, I started sulfasalazine in June & noticed the pain easing slightly, I asked if I could increase the dose by one tablet & a few weeks later the pains gone 🙏 other joints are now getting worse but I'm so glad I'm on sulfasalazine for that particular pain 😀, id had it since October 2021 x

Hey! I get "rib" pain on occasions BUT it is usually when I do some sort of exercise or repetitive motion that triggers that pain. I also get jaw pain, and buttocks pain.
