Tooth Infection on Methotrexate

So sorry to hear you're suffering
When I've had teeth out I was advised by my rheum nurse to re start the mtx after it had completely healed . If in doubt, you could always check with your team.I'm sure your dentist will advise on anything you need to do after the extraction x
It's a balance between stopping the methotrexate and risking a flare, and carrying on and risking your inflammatory response to the dental treatment being supressed. Your rheumatology team is best placed to advice you personally on the best course of action for you.
Sorry to hear you have an infection, so painful.Pleas speak with your Rheumy team as you do not want to be in a situation where the MTX does not work for you anymore !
Kind regards
Shy
You need to check with your Rheumy team. I was on methotrexate foe seven years . It helped about 50%. I had to stop it several times because of infection or cancer. You probably need to wait until your mouth is healed. Methotrexate is hard on the mouth. Good luck.
I would stay off it for 2 weeks and if no infection start again.
Follow your dentist advice re healing and mouth wash prob with saline . If in doubt speak to the rheumy team.
Good luck
Speak to your rheumatology team as soon as possible they may advise you to keep taking it and not to stop it.... I've been given that advice before when I had 3 teeth removed to keep injecting so check asap hun
It's a bit different but I stopped mine for three months last year due to a skin infection. My RA has been worse since restarting. However, I've stopped it for a week or two in the past with no ill effects. Do contact your Rheumatology team for advice. Everyone's different and it depends on how well controlled your RA is to start with. Hope your tooth is soon better!
