I seem to be getting a few toe infections since I have been on baricitinib. Anyone else experienced this?
Toe nail infection : I seem to be getting a few toe... - NRAS
Toe nail infection
Yes on Abatercept and going for laser treatment its not on the NHS though but I don't want to take antifungals if they can be avoided. Too early to say if its worked though.
thank you for your response I seem to get an infection every six months or so best of luck with your treatment 💐
Yes, and the occasional finger nail.
I was advised not to wear nail polish (which I didn't) and told it can be another symptom of RD.
The podiatrist wanted to remove my big toe nail as a permanent remedy but I refused, as I'm quite attached to it.
The infections require a bit of self management but can easily be brought under control. Just something else to contend with every day, like brushing you hair.
Hope yours isn't too distracting.
try painting with tea tree oil every morning. My big toe nails were awful but tried this and one is now back to normal and the other is getting there.
I had a fungal infection underneath the sole of my foot last year, one under my boob and have had Athlete's foot between my toes. My rheumatologist said you can be more prone to them because of Baricitinib. He was happy for me to stay on it as long as I wasn't ill in myself with temperature etc. I was off it last year when I had the fungal infections under my foot as was originally misdiagnosed with shingles and given antivirals for it! If i'm off it though I usually need steroids. Hope the infections clear up soon xx
