Does anyone else get toe pain in bed at night? I get shooting sharp pains in my toes some nights. They aren’t noticeable during the day and as I said they aren’t there every night. I know they are related to RA as I started getting them when my disease was first active over a year ago. I don’t have pins and needles. I’m on treatment (Benapali) and otherwise well. I would be grateful for any insight from my RA partners in crime 😊🤗

yes I do get pain in my toes , not every night. I think this is to do with the nerves , peripheral neuropathy , it’s really horrible when this happens. I did speak to my lady that cuts my toe nails and she did some sort of tests on her machine. I have a lot of troubles with my feet generally.
yes I do. It’s been going on for 18 months. I got pain in the day too, feeling like I was walking on broken bones. Ultrasound confirmed inflammation, so rheumatologist increased my methotrexate which settled it. However once the swelling subsided 2 of my toes subluxed, and have remained so since. I now get cramps every night in these toes as well as the forefoot, I also get it when swimming. It’s so frustrating. I already take magnesium tablets as well as spray it on my foot, but still get it.
Thank you for your comment. I too have had same symptoms in feet. I get it when I forget to take my medication. I always thought it was related to RA. Thank you.
I also get toe pain some nights. I am on Benapali and methotrexate. Yet another pain that disturbs my sleep. Sadly my rheumatologist isn’t that interested in my feet.
Yes, I get random shooting pains in many parts of my body, usually more noticeable at night. I have had them in my toes in the past. It's my left inner ankle that is troublesome just now 🤦♀️
Thank you everyone. Looks like it’s neuropathy from some of your feedback. I had pushed out my Benapali injection to every two weeks instead of weekly on my consultants advice and the pains in my feet seem to have got worse since doing that. Looks like I need to revisit that decision. From looking it up this RA related neuropathy is treatable if the RA is well controlled.
Oooh! I’m reading this having being diagnosed with shingles 3 weeks ago. I too suffer from sudden toe pain, but the last couple of weeks they’ve been fine. I’ve been on a particular pain killer for the neuropathy associated with shingles. So that’s probably why I’ve not had the discomfort 🤷🏻♀️ Might have to ask further about that! Always interesting to see the overlaps of conditions and meds!
