Hi. My 3 year old granddaughter has just got back from A&E and she has tonsillitis and has been given antibiotics. I’m due my MTX jab tomorrow and as it’s bank holiday I can’t get hold of Rheumy nurse. On the internet the NHS says it not contagious but the bacterial or viral infection that causes tonsillitis is. I was with my granddaughter yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours, she sneezed a few times and was very snotty, we thought it was hayfever.
Anyone had this before and did you still take your MTX jab please? X

With the caveat that I’m not medically qualified. As someone that lives with a child that has very frequent bacterial infections due to an underlying genetic condition, my understanding is that medication carries on as normal unless you yourself are diagnosed with the bacterial infection. It’s not like chickenpox whereby there is a potential risk to you associated with just having contact. This situation is no different to if your granddaughter had a cold.
Thank you Charlie! That answers my question perfectly. 😊 I’ll do my jab tomoz then unless I get any cold symptoms before then. I take it after tea time so 24 hours hours yet. Thank you so much! X
