Is this my imagination? During the past week I had terrible pain in my buttocks and ankles, and a lot of burning on tops of my feet and ankles, especially through the night. I took my methotrexate yesterday morning (a day early as i want to move it so i dont feel like shit at work) and i slept like a log last night.
Can it be the mtx wears off over the week when you are new to it? It was only my tenth dose so I know its early days, but is this a sign its going to work for me?
Or the other possiblity it has been a wee flare triggered by too busy work week and the fact I slept for nearly two days over weekend and did absolutely nothing at all with my days off. :-\

There never ever seems to be one really obvious reason for things suddenly going right. However I do think Mtx wears off towards the end of the week. And I suppose if that is the case for you then it must be doing some good, which is encouraging. But a proper lazy weekend is also very likely to do some good too. I think that may wear off towards the end of the week also, unfortunately.
It's just great to hear that you are getting some relief and finding things that may, fingers crossed, work for you.
I have sort of felt a bit better first couple days after it anyway, so much so I want to increase and look forward to it! Yep think it's mtx starting to work...
I'm thinking rather than wearing off it's a combination of having a busy week then you've relaxed & slept well over the weekend (a big plus) & your joints have appreciated it. The MTX is building up in your system rather than like a tablet which loses effect coming up to the next dose if that makes sense? I feel no different day 1 to day 6 unlike with my BuTrans patch! Being 10 weeks in you're likely at the point where it's getting the job done & hopefully a good indication that it's going to work for you. Yay!
Hi, I know what you mean, and I expect when I am up to therapeutic levels I won't get that wearing off effect, but as its early in treatment, and I'm not there yet, possibly it peaks for a day or two?
Anyway, I spoke a bit too soon, I was ready for work at half nine and tried to take my painkillers with some grapefruit juice and head down toilet for twenty minutes... I called in to say I was going to be a bit late and been told to go back to bed... I felt awful as i havent had a sinlgle day off sick since this started. But I will make the most of it. A day with Jo Nesbo... Old films.... I'm going to have a cyclizine and try to eat a bowl of raw oats with ice cold milk blueberries and raspberries and teaspoon maple syrup later. It's better with cream, but what isnt!
Sounds yummy nevertheless! I hope Jo Nesbø & old films distract you awhile, the cyclizine does the trick & you feel better tomorrow. Possibly grapefruit juice was a tad acidic, don't know but the oats & milk should line your tum. x
Yep pretty sure thats it...grapefruit juice is now off the menu, I have usually got a cast iron stomach.
I'm going to move my MTX to Friday nights. If I am doing nothing all weekend anyway, best time to feel crap, less likely to indulge in fast food too, and hopefully will lose a bit of weight!
I was partial to the odd half grapefruit or juice but knocked it on the head when I started statins. Loved the tartness of it though like a few other things with RD it is no more!
Hope the change to Fridays helps & I don't think the odd indulgence isn't overly bad. Well, we can't go daft but I believe in the odd treat, we give up much with this bl@sted disease you've to live & be naughty now & again!
