I’ve just tested positive for covid and my surgery has given me a prescription for paxlovid (I live in Guernsey so things work a little differently here). My sister is picking it up for me from the hospital pharmacy this afternoon and I presume I have to stay off the humira until I feel better. My problem is that I take cbd regularly and that I had my usual dose this morning. (I normally take it morning and evening). Does anyone know if it interacts with the paxlovid - there seem to be so many medications that do interact judging by the list I have come across in previous posts on here - but I can’t find any mention of cbd. I’d be grateful if anyone has any insight or experience they are willing to share. Thank you!

Hi. Not sure how it works in Guernsey but here as soon as your anti-virals have been requested you go through a triage system to ensure that none of the drugs you’re currently taking interact with Paxlovid and it’s a very long list! I had two doctors and a pharmacist ensuring it was safe for me to take it .Very reassuring. Hope it’s the same for you and they’ll certainly need to know about your cbd just in case it’s not on their list of no-no’s. Good luck - Paxlovid worked within a couple of days for me and the only side effect was a metallic taste which goes as soon as you come off them after five days.
Thank you! I have stopped the cbd just in case. I got on to my gp and they just said to stop my antihistamine (fexofenadine), which I’ve done. I hope it works. Feeling pretty grotty at the moment…
Paxlovid interacts with lots of things. I would take advice from a pharmacist before starting it.
In England it’s not prescribed until you have spoken to at least one doctor and a pharmacist who ask about all medications and supplements you are taking to ensure there are no interactions.
Thank you. A bit of a different way of doing things here, but I’ve been in touch with my gp now and they went through my list. I’ve stopped the cbd just in case.
Before the Paxlovid was prescribed for me I had a call discussing all medication including herbal medicine, vitamins supplements etc. If in any doubt just stop until finished Paxlovid or COVID itself. You could of course try to contact a pharmacist for clarification. The Paxlovid worked well and is a short course. Only problem I experienced was an awful taste in my mouth. Small price to pay. Wishing you a speedy recovery
Thank you! Your system is definitely more thorough ! I’ve stopped the cbd just in case. Yes, the metallic taste started with the first dose last night. Not pleasant but if it works, I can easily put up with that - we certainly put up with far worse on a day to day basis, don’t we?!
I live in Staffordshire (middle England?) and I had a doctor and pharmacist speak to me about what medication I was on before they’d prescribe paxlovid… but they showed no interest in any supplements I take. Think it’s different everywhere 🤷♀️
Yes, my Covid cleared up within 5 days but whilst taking the paxlovid I had a strange metallic taste in my mouth and a very upset tummy. Had to isolate at home at that time so the upset tummy wasn’t too inconvenient. 🤷♀️
