Hi all,

Just wondering if there is anyone on here that still works a manual job and has RA? If so what medication are you on and how long have have you been diagnosed, how severe is your RA? Asking for my husband.

One last question do any of you take CBD oil for pain management?

Thank you in advance.

It really depends on how he can manage. Many people get treatment and manage fine. Some , and probably a lot of people that look for help on websites, lol , have more problems . I suggest if hes finding it hard that he gets in touch with the union or joins one asap. I found my union rep amazing for information, help and support . He's allowed time off if ill and is protected under the disability act.

Also you can ring the NRAS free helpline which I found incredibly helpful and informative.

Yes I bought CBS oil but I dont think fir me it was strong enough, others swear by it. Trial and error I think x

Good luck and keep chatting on here x

It's difficult being self employed as there are no unions! (as far as I know anyway).

I've been self employed for the last 25 years but am in the position now where I don't have to do much manually, I get help when I do. I also do manual voluntary work 2-3 days a week (gardening & grounds work) I really have to Pace myself but can manage it. I've officially had seropositive RA for just over a year and as I'm on just one dmard it's described as moderate. I've read other posts on here from people who are still doing manual jobs, everyone's RA is individual, what one person can do another wouldn't be able to.

I read a news item this week that the law is going to change in the UK regarding CBD oils, regulation etc. I've never tried it.

I can't comment on the manual work question, but CBD oil did nothing for me, other than give me a headache and nausea. There are lots of posts on the forum about it if you do a search.

Hi. I have a manual job - I'm a cook and I also teach kids to cook. Having RA has meant I have had to cut down my hours and I get someone to help me with the harder tasks. If I over do it I pay the price and my joints get terribly stiff but I'm finding that the DMARDs are helping and my joints in my hands are not as painful or swollen as they were. I was diagnosed last September. Methotrexate makes me tired so I take it after work and make sure the next day I have an easy day. You have to be kind to yourself and listen to your body and don't be afraid to ask for help. I hope your husband can adjust his lifestyle and that it makes a difference. It's very difficult I know especially when you are self employed.

Hi I am a breakfast chef and I am on mtx tablets, hdyredcolnaquine, and leflumomide, tiredness is my biggest thing. I have had RA for 7years. My work know I have RA but I don't think they know what it means? I do struggle some days, I seem to have lost my strength and can no long twist any lids off things.

Hope things work out for your husband.

Take care
