Hi all. Happy Monday. My rheumy team has just called to advice my CRP and ESR are still high - again, the highest they’ve ever been. Since my Dad died last September I’ve had covid twice and can’t seem to get rid of this flare. Feel pretty disheartened to be honest. I need another blood test in 2 weeks. CRP 8/ 91.6, ESR is 51. Yuck. Also, does anyone know the normal range for RDW and ALT? Thank you xx
High CRP and ESR: Hi all. Happy Monday. My rheumy team... - NRAS
High CRP and ESR
So sorry for your loss x
You've had what sounds like an extremely hard few months, no wonder you are completely fed up.
Great your medical team and keeping an eye on things, and hopefully they can reassess your treatment to get your inflammation down and hopefully sooner rather than later as your flare has been quite long standing.
Reference ranges do differ depending upon which laboratory has analysed the sample but are "generally" in the same ball park for liver function tests, my hospital lab has the reference range of :
For females 10-40 IU/L
Males 10 -60 IU/L
I dont know what RDW is I'm sorry.
Really hope you get some relief from this fare soon
In my Trust ALT range is anything <50. However it has to go above triple top end, so >150 to stop my methotrexate. I’m not familiar with RDW either, I’ve been a nurse many years but never come across that one. The raised CRP & ESR just informs them you have inflammation, not necessarily in your joints. It will be raised with any infection or even injury will raise them. It may well be Covid is still playing a part in it all.
Hi,RDW is red cell distribution width and is often done to check for anaemia. I think different trusts will have different normal range. Hope you get better soon.x
