2nd booster

Has anyone been offered a 2nd booster and had it cancelled?

My GP surgery contacted last week and said as I am at risk they will book me in for a 2nd booster for this coming weekend, then today I had a voicemail cancelling it saying I'm not eligible. I am immune suppressed. I queried it and they said the government have changed the list of at risk patients!!!

Just wondered if anyone else has had or having there's?!

Thanks x

Try calling your hospital vaccine clinic if you can. GPs are doing a great job but are not the best informed right now, in my experience.

It does depend what meds you are on and I find my GP doesn’t really know much about my hospital prescribed meds. Are you still on just a low dose mtx?

I am yeah, I've been on it 6 to 7 years x

I think that’s why you’re not eligible then, it’s mtx 20mg+

I agree, you have to be on >20mg Methotrexate. I think the confusion is that although the JCVI quoted 20mg, the British Rheumatology Society had stated to rheumatologists it should be >10mg. That decision seems to have been changed back to what JCVI state ie >20mg. So I assume they were told they couldn’t alter the JCVI advice

I seem to recall that if you take MTX at any dose and are also on leflunomide you should get it.

I'm only on MTX, thank you x

My hospital rheumatology doctor suggested any dose methotrexate should get 4th booster. We all have a problem with immune system irrespective of drugs or dose. She had no scientific evidence to support the 20mg decision. Dose level for hydroxychloroquine is determined by body weight so maybe that is also relevant for methotrexate dose. Rheumatologist is writing to my GP to recommend 4th but my go will just stick to the government rules. Prove we don’t need it at lower than 20mg dose and I’m fine with that, but where’s the proof?

My retired pharmacist cousin said to me recently that he thinks that they will change things eventually so that any dose of immunsosupresent will mean that you get a booster but I think that might not be straight away.
