Hi everyone, I’m due to get my third covid dose in a couple of weeks time. Could anyone pls advise if you are supposed to stop your biologic injections for a couple of weeks after getting the covid dose? I take methotrexate and tocilizumab. Would appreciate any advice. Thank you

Third covid dose!
Hiya Florida100. This must be in the top 10 questions at the mo. We're advising that you ask your Rheumy team as there are many variables. Much can depend on your Rheumy's preference, how well you're controlled, which meds are concerned etc. So do please ask yours for advice for your particular circumstances. I hope you don't have any problems, I didn’t with mine. 😊
Morning. If you click on the search button above it may save you some time as there are lots of varying replies on this topic.. From what I've seen different people had had different advice on this . !! Xx
Hello Florida100
I was told by my rheumatology nurse to leave two weeks either side of the injection date (missing that injection of course). I take Infliximab biologic by injection. I also take Methotrexate by injection, but was told to take that as usual - although preferably not on the actual day of the covid vaccine.
Your rheumatology dept. will be able to advise you - it does seem to depend on what biologic you are having.
Good Luck!
My rheumy advised me not to have methotrexate or Remicade the week of my covid booster and to stay off it for 4 weeks after.
I’m due mine end of the week not being invited yet thou I’d wait and see what day it is as I take my methz on a Friday if I’m getting booster on same day I’d probably miss it if it’s not I’d take it unless I receive any notice to do other
Appreciate your reply, thank you!
Check as the guidelines are changing fairly often!! And regions of Uk might be different!!
Thanks to all our community members who have already provided excellent responses to Florida100.
It does vary person to person depending on dosages and what therapies are being used in the treatment and so everyone is absolutely right in that respect and that your rheumatology team will be able to provide guidance specific to your situation.
However for some more general updates and information please check out our website: nras.org.uk/information-sup...
