Initial capital letters for conditions and medications associated with RA ( ! ) and blood disorders would be useful for me and my wife who's just found out her platelet count is 1181. Please.

There’s lots of information on the various medicines used to treat RA on the NRAS website.

Thanks Lola- I can't find ET or HU and more

No idea what ET is unless it’s being used as an abbreviation for Etanercept, which is an RA biologic drug.

HU often refers to Health Unlocked, this site provider. But possibly an abbreviation for Humira.

As an ex nurse a high platelet count is thrombocytosis, the T might be related to that. The only ET abbreviation I know is endotrachial tube.

ET .....Essential thrombocythaemia ?

You might need to see the haemotolegist(excuse spelling.) My hubby has got that and it is called Thrombocoytosis(again excuse spelling) She will need chemotherapy treatment.Which my darling hubby has to start next month.Don't be put off by the word cancer. They call it that even if it hasn't got to that stage. I w wish your wife good luck. xxxx

There is a thread about abbreviations…Perhaps we need to revive it and bring it up to date?

Thank you for this, I've saved that post, I can never find info on here whether I use my phone or computer & often wonder what some of the abbreviations mean, especially when I first joined x

Hi Whitegate,

You may also find our webpage on "Understanding your blood tests" useful nras.org.uk/resource/unders...

Rest assured though, even we staff here at NRAS have to look up abbreviations sometimes!

I hope you find this resource helpful but should you require any additional information or support please contact our helpline on 0800 298 7650 (Mon-Fri, 9.30am-4.30pm) or email us at helpline@nras.org.uk

Best wishes,
