Hi gwen
Look under rituximab in the tags - there are some great blogs by Charlie36 and others about their expereinces....
Hi Gwen,
I had my first rituximab infusion back end of last year.
I had no problems at all. (Headache during the night following having it done but that could have been anything)
The staff were absolutely fabulous.
You are in there for quite a while so take something to read. (or etc.) I also took some sweets and a sandwich and drink but didn't need the sandwich or drink as they provided us with them.
Hope this catches you before you go and don't worry
Regards
Judi
I have had 3 cycles of rituximab in total and they have worked really well for me. I was given an anti-histamine intravenously prior to the infusion which made me very sleepy all day, couldn't read much as I kept nodding off. It usually took about 3 months to see the lymphocyte count reducing, sure sign that the ritiximab is doing its stuff. The only thing I would say is to be extremely careful, more than normal around anyone with colds or infections as you are at an increased risk with your immunity - bit difficult for me as I am a nurse but touch wood I have never had any major problems - just be vigilant. Hello,I had my first two infusions in Nov. I had no problems what so ever, but the nurses do keep a really close eye on you. I had one trainy nurse attached to me for the day. They monitor you every 15 minutes to begin with then every 30 mins.but mine was a very long day. The first time I arrived at 10 am and left at 9pm. Hopefully you will be quicker, it took ages for pharmacy to send the drugs up to the ward, so be prepared!!! Good luck.
Hi hope it went well, I had the pleasure of being treated very well and having a good rest whilst i had my treatments! Hope you have had the same experience today, but i was very tired after the infusion so try to get rest after today.
Love Axx
I had two treat ments at end of last year , Did have problem with the meds ashadreaction and coughing like mad eyes running but it was soon sorted but just took longer to finish . Both times had to be like the first . Not really sure that it working for me as not seen much change , butt I know it works for plenty of people and I hop that you are one , Take care xx
I had 2 lots of rituximab back in june/july last year and they worked. I have just had another lot yesterday and had a few problems but was mainly due to them having problems getting the canula in to my veins (I have bad veins). One of the canulas seemed to be in the vein but as the drug started going in my arm started going purple...it was going in to my tissues. But don't let this worry you as it is only cos I have veins that don't to be found. The good thing that even though it was only yesterday I had the infusion I can already feel a difference in my joints. I have got another lot in a couple of weeks. I hope rituximab does the job for you take care jo xx
hi,
i am supposed to be going on the "r" drug (i can never spell or pronounce it!) and am also worried - so it was great to see all the positive comments.
it will also be conforting to know how you got - good or bad - so i know what to expect and, like you, i am very very nervous.
