Off topic…. Ish

Saw this on Twitter an interview with BJ. How worrying for the nhs and those that need care. I can’t believe he said this on tv. I’m not a political person usually but I do feel let down especially health wise by this government.

My sister in law is a Conservative Councillor and she's one of the most unsympathetic, cold hearted vile people I've ever known. Her reason for being a Councillor is purely ego driven .

I will leave it here !

I can’t say what I think about B, Marion as I’d be banned from this message board for evermore. 🤬

I worked as a senior manager in social care for years. What made me give up was working closely with councillors, most of whom were self serving, heartless, money grabbing and spineless. Got up one morning and thought that if I had to be nice to a councillor one more time, I might commit murder, so went in and handed in my resignation.

Good for you, I can imagine what a nightmare it was working with them !

No doubt some are as you say, but please remember that people have far more to say about what they don't like than praising anything good. It's absolutely not true that "all" or "most" councillors are as you describe. My daughter and some of my friends are councillors and I know how hard they work and what ever greater responsibilities are put on councils to carry out with less and less money. I'm surprised there are still people with enough optimism to keep trying to keep things running against these odds. Perhaps people who think it is so easy should stand for the council themselves and then report on their firsthand experience.

It’s getting awful all over . Even the Vets are not run by

us anymore . You pay an absolute fortune and you can’t understand what they are saying .

I wouldn't get too wound up if I were you. You've got an account of what a politician said given by a rival politician. They're all a pack of liars so it probably can't be taken at face value. I think Plato had the right idea when he proposed that all pubic offices should be filled using a lottery system like jury duty (i.e. civic jobs are allocated for a finite period by random selection from the entire population of adult citizen) because even 2,500 years ago they'd figured out that anyone seeking public office is probably a power-hungry egomaniac and they're the last people you want in charge!

in reply to Aporiac

I thought that too until it was reported on the tv news last night

That sort of comment is why I am never going to believe anything that a politician says ever again. Unfortunately we have become a selfish, uncaring people now that life is becoming normal again, very different from this time last year!!!

in reply to Gymcactus

I agree! 🥺

I’m not remotely shocked….
