Are they calling it that just to confuse us again!
Isn't this just another name for the booster?!
What do we think guys?

Reading the news and the criteria I don’t think many of us will be getting it (yet). It seems for the severely immunocompromised, I take steroids daily so I wondered what their cut off is for high dose but either way seems it is getting to those that need it the most first.
I believe some guidance says 20mg and over is a high dose but it varies!
My understanding is that a booster is given to people who have had a good response to increase how long it lasts, whereas this third vaccination will, hopefully, give better efficacy to those people who had very little response to the first two vaccines due to a variety of vulnerability issues. As has been noted tonight the report acknowledges that they don’t know for sure, but it should help. I’m in!
Many of us are in the list (see point 2).
gov.uk/government/publicati...
Thanks for that… I’m Point 3.. Mx 25mg.
I'm must say I'm getting a bit confused by it all so I'll wait and see what my rheumatologist says.
Thanks for this
It looks like a “third dose” would be when you are given a third injection a few weeks after your second one....
At the current time, JCVI advises that a third primary dose be offered to individuals aged 12 years and over with severe immunosuppression in proximity of their first or second COVID-19 vaccine doses in the primary schedule.
Otherwise surely it is a booster...?
This so-called third dose is unlikely to be given to many people at all then. Almost everyone on that list will be more than 8 weeks since their 2nd jab. The only exceptions are those who have recently been diagnosed with conditions that mean they are severely immune suppressed. I had my 2nd jab 5 months ago.
Yes I read that the 3rd dose ought to be 8 weeks from the 2nd. Think that window has long since closed for many of us. Maybe they meant at least 8 weeks after...
Saw this on sky news.
I wonder if I will get one now as I’m currently sat recovering from Covid. Guess that gives me more protection than the vaccine as I had zero antibodies left from the last 2 vaccines. Who knows?
Yeah not sure but it is a booster. I had my third shot about a week ago and no issues. I’m a 54 years old white male with AS. I take Taltz once a month plus pain meds and take VyVanse for my ADHD. I have never had Covid. My youngest had Covid at 13 years old along with strep throat so she was pretty miserable for a couple of days but nothing scary. She lost her taste and smell for about a month and a half. She has since had both vaccine shots and studies have shown people like her have the best protection against getting it or a variant again. The new thing for kids is getting RSV with Covid and that is very scary as your doubling up the attack on your respiratory system. Children are more likly to die from this combo. It stinks you cannot tell how each person will react to the jab but if you can do as much as possible to prevent serious illness and protect those around you I recommend it
Ha, same!
I'm a 54 yr old female with AS. I've had 2 AZ jabs, not heard of a 3rd shot until yesterday.
I'm in the UK btw.
You've got to be one of the only ppl(if in the UK) to have had 3 shots surely. How was it explained to you and which jab was it?
Good news if we are included!
My reading was that is was a 3RD dose (which would apply to people who had their 2ND dose OVER 8 wks ago). And that a FOLLOWING booster would be given 6 months later [than the 3RD dose]; which would be Spring 2022.
Yes exactly, and well put I might add
Yes, I saw that too. The third dose (announced only yesterday) is for those of us who are immunosuppressed for a long list of reasons (check out the JCVI document that someone else has posted a link to above), and we will then also get a booster jab about 6 months after that. Sounds like a good deal to me!I paid for an antibody test 3 weeks after my 2nd jab in April, as I was concerned, and although I had made some antibodies (good news), the level was very low. Hubby decided to do one as well, and his level was 10 times higher than mine!
Oh interesting!
Yes it is a good deal, I don't know why I never thought of it (getting more jabs than average non CEV)seems logical now, and allows us to get back to a more normal life without as much fear and trepidation.
I'm in the U.S. and got my 3rd Pfizer vaccine yesterday. My 2nd was on 4/17. I'm on mtx weekly via injection & infliximab/Inflectra infusion every 5 weeks. I was approved by my large insurance company immediately for being on two immune suppressants.
So far, just a sore arm & fatigue.
Has anyone had their 3rd jab?
Not to be confused with the booster jab, bcz they are not the same thing, or are they,,,,,,,,hm! Inquisitive face!
I take the jak inhibitor Baricitinib and received my letter this weekend only problem is NHS booking told me they dont do this jab and I am showing as not eligible
Ha! At least you have a letter though, small mercies! Brandish that letter!
I have nothing, I'm on immune suppressants Enbrel and have a phone call booked this morning to see if I've slipped through the net...again!
My Doc is ace but I've read that a lot of GPS don't even know about the 3rd primary dose so I'm ready to educate him if necessary. I have done this from when I first got diagnosed 12 years ago, as in research and know more about my own illness than a gp. You have to be your own health advocate and pitch for yourself I'm afraid, especially now with the NHS so snowed under.
Well-Well!
Doc didn't know about a 3rd primary dose!
He thanked me and said he probably should have known and will speak to/email our local vaccine administering commity and come back to me within the week.
