Hi, just to let you all no had my 2nd dose of 15mg metx last night. Wanted to post as I no some have bad side effects etc, well I'm not tempting fate, but fingers crossed so far had a slight hangover feel the next day and just feel more tired than usual..
I no it takes a while before I will feel the benefits, but I'm thinking it's a good start, and also to let others no as I was quiet worried about taking it as some of the story's, and side effects. I'm still on 10mg of prednisolone, that's keeping my pain at bay but still very stiff everywhere, hope this helps others who are about to start the meds, I've also got my 2nd heart scan on Sunday as I have a( small global pericardial effusion) fluid round the heart, which was found by accident.. and they don't no the cause , if all is well sunday and no more fluid as accumulated, I can start to hopefully look to the future, and have some hope that things will start to improve 😊 I hope everyone has a great weekend

Think I was fine for first few weeks then a few rough. 5yrs later still on it. But as they say you gotta take the rough with the smooth. Good luck with your your heart scan. 🙂
The time has come. Picked up my prescription today and start taking 10mg on Sunday night with folic acid 2 days later. I decided Sunday as I have my 2 .5yr old granddaughter on Thursdays and fridays so hoping any affects I have will be gone by Thursday morning. I’m quite scared about taking the MTX to be honest. How are you now on it? X
Hi Haz, I took my 6th dose Friday, and last 2 doses noticed I had a lot of heartburn and slight nausea, I've got a f2f with my consultant tmrw, I'm on 15mg, I'm being changed to Injections as they by pass the stomach, think there adding in another dmard, if I drink loads of water that day and day after it deffo does help the side effects and make sure you have a good hearty meal before , my first 4 doses only had slight tiredness fatigue.. Good luck and please let me no how you get on everyone is diffrent think there increasing my mxt also this week. I was so nervous also stood there for 2 hours on my table before I took them, then was waiting for side effects but didn't really get none just was really tierd next day 😊x
Thank you Jojo! I imagined myself sitting looking at them for a week or more before taking them. I’ve hidden them until Sunday so I don’t look at them lol. I’ll just bite the bullet on Sunday then after I’ve had my Sunday roast dinner. Good to know about the water tip. I have gastric reflux so I’ll have to watch the heartburn etc. I’m on omeprazole and have been for years. The Rheumy nurse said I can still take that thankfully as I suffer without it. I’ve read so many nightmare stories about MTX so you have put my mind at rest a bit 🙂 thank you! I’ll let you know how I get on next week. Good luck on the injections! That made me belly laugh 🤣 (about looking at them for a week) I'm on lansoprazole have been for years, so your omeprazole is very similar. I've just also had a flaire, but been told this can happen, as they can take a good few months to work, are you on any steroids??I'm on low dose prednisolone 5mg, that helps me but they want to start reducing that soon, but soon as I go any lower I get pain. Had a steroid jab in my bum On 2nd August . 4 days later had no pain and had the use of my hands again. Feet much better too. Nurse said that’s how they know for sure I need MTX as the steroid worked. Wish I could just get a jab in the bum as needed but that’s a no no. Ah well, always someone worse off than me so I keep telling myself. Keep in touch. Xx
That’s quite difficult to say because I’m on so many other pills. Only thing I can say is it makes me feel hungry 24hrs after taking them. But that only lasts one day. I do it light salad and drink loads of water the day of my methz . Which helps incase I have a rough time. But I’ve not had that in long time. But like I said you have to get over the rough to get to the smooth. I wasn’t on site when I started and your nurse is always there for you to email.
Ty jojo well have had to come off the SSZ for two weeks coz of my extreme sweating from forehead to neck and palms of hands to see if it is the SSZ or menopause take care x
Ohhh no, at least then you will no which it is. Has your periods stopped completely yet? I went through menopause at 48, I'm now on everol conti patches twice weekly, they keep the flushes,flashes at bay (we don't half have a lot to cope with) I'm coming back as a man 🤣.. Had my scan, she said no more fluid has accumulated so that's good news, they are just going to keep a close eye on it so all is good 🙂 thanks for your well wishes x
That's great its having a positive effect with little side effects. Dont worry if you get little flares as the months go by, they'll come and go and get weaker if MTX is for you. Goodluck Jojo
