Has anyone been experiencing severe sweating?

I experiencing this a few years ago but did not have any idea it could be to do with RA. Apart from the obvious things to do to keep cool, does anyone have any advice as I am struggling.

Thanks Guys

Are you on predisolone (steroids?). If so, one of the side effects is profuse sweating

I constantly get the sweats from my shoulders upwards. I have been told it could be my fibro causing the trouble. xxx

my rheumatology team mentioned fibro to me but heard nothing since. interesting, might have to look into that further. thanks πŸ˜€

I too get sweats when fibromyalgia plays up. Dry hot heat for RA

Hi BagpussStrange you should mention this. I’ve really struggled with it this year for the first time. I don’t have a solution but I can definitely sympathise. It’s really dreadful.

As Soundofmusicsays

Good luck with finding a solution. Keep posting. I will too.

Hi. Yes from shoulders upwards - i can ring out my hair & it hurts the eyes plus wet neck.. im not on steroids. Its even worse now with a mask! I dont suffer with fibro but have severe RA. I m on tocalizimub.. like you say its embarrasing & seems no one knows why. At the moment im waiting for dermatology @ hospital to phone me who are going to make up some sort of lotion to see if it will help ( GPs not authorised to prescribe). Will be interesting if any one has found out why we get it & if anything helps...

I've been sweating lots too for about a month. Never had it before. I was on a 6 week course of steroids back in June so finished those now. At 51 years old my first thought was menopause but women's health nurse at local surgery thinks unlikely. I dunno what it is.

Hi,I don't think mine is anything to do with menopause either πŸ˜•

I also sweat a lot. So much so that it drips from the top of my head all down my face and neck. It is very uncomfortable and also embarrassing. At home I often walk about with a small towel around my neck so that I can keep mopping myself up. I was on Mtx but have been off it for over six months now. I am on prednisolone but only on 5mg daily so a very low dose. I mentioned it to a rheumatologist some time ago but she didn't seem to take much notice. I would really like to know what causes it.

Hi,

I think something has to be done about it, it's just not natural. I'll keep gigging to see what causes it and share anything I find out. πŸ˜€

So glad to hear lots of you have the sweats. I’m on benepali and mtx. It’s been really horrid, just doing the slightest things and I’m wet

Hi,Just out of interest, do you find benepali painful to inject? I found d it really painful and have been switched. Have found that I am reacting to medication in the pen.

Hi. It does sting a bit. I intend to put it in my thighs alternating each week. If I keep it out of fridge for a couple of hours it’s not too bad 😊

Bagpuss2021 in reply to teresa2711

I am trying a few weeks of ice on my thigh before I inject, see how it goes.

I hope it helps. I must admit I’ve had no problems with benepali, no bendy fingers etc. I was on cimzia before, massive needle into tummy, this is so much better 😊

Yes, I sweat really easily. I am long past the menopause, but it does feel similar to hot flushes. Sweat runs down my back, it's awful, and it can happen anytime, not necessarily when I have been doing a lot.I would love to know the reason, nobody ever seems to take it seriously!
