I mentioned this to my GP started soon after starting RA medication. Just said it was the menopause. I don't think so!

Told me to come back and talk about it.

Auto-immune diseases are generalized inflammation as though your body has a widespread infection. Therefore we have fevers and sweats. HTH?

Thank you for that 👍

Hia,

I get this in spurts, ok now but when I get it it's bad and makes you feel yuk!

I looked up on this board more on sweating and found ppl mention having gone to the Doc. They were told to try Driclor. It's a roll on. It's has rave reviews all over net and seems to be a game changer. I just ordered mine from ebay yesterday so lets see.

Look it up on here as well, as someone said they use it not only underarms, but on head, neck, back ect.

I think it's a common thing we all share, at night I start off with the duvet over me but it's always off by the morning 😂

Please be very careful with Driclor as it is very strong and stings like hell! I cannot believe it would be used on face as it would burn. I used it once just under arms and I was awake all night in agony and itching. I too sweat a lot due to various drugs I take and have found gabapentin helped for a while. Good luck!

Hia Cathy,

Thanks for heads up. I've not used it yet but read this post from this forum.

Will copy paste under here.

"Hi Judy, Been to see my GP and I now have a roll on called Driclor. I use it before I go to bed, roll it along my forehead, nape of my neck and behind my ears each night. It is really helping. My GP said I will be able to do it weekly eventually. Certainly I am not dripping, so far so good!. Have a good weekend M"

Hi there. Sorry but I still think its very strong. I found this on Mumsnet which is exactly what I experienced. Let me know! I would be interested.

mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_...

Above link has ladies on mumsnet discussing Driclor. I think you should read it. But we are all different.

Before putting it on your face try it on underarms. You may be fine. I got such red enflamed skin in my armpits I dread to think what it would do to my face. Just be careful.

Hia Cathy

Thanks for link, will check it out.

I don't plan on using it on my face. I was just repeating what I had read other poster did with no issue. I realise it's strong and will read instructions and apply it very sparingly on my armpits only.

The reviews on boots, amazon, ebay are overwhelmingly positive, so have to give it a whirl.

Thanks for warning!

Thank you so much. For that advise I have very sensitive skin xx

I've been using a product called Drysol on my feet for 20 years or so. It is expensive, but it only needs to be used once a month. You can use this product any where on your body, but not your face. You don't want the product to get into your eyes.

All my life I suffered with sweaty feet. Winter or summer, barefoot or wearing shoes made no difference on the amount of sweat that would be produced by my feet. All this sweat caused me many years of foot fungal infections until I discovered Drysol.

Sounds like practically the same product by different name. Does it burn or itch your feet?

D

in reply toDeminem

Hi Deminem.

No burning or itching on my feet when I use Drysol. Infact, it prevents athelete's foot for me. Before 1995, I would be able to "wash the kitchen floor" with my sweaty feet by just sliding around on the floor. lol

Drysol is known over here (Canada) as less toxic or dangerous than Driclor... I don't know if that is really true, but you can buy Drysol over the counter here. Driclor is sold behind the counter.

But I would recommend that anyone first try placing a small "dab" on your arm to see if you have an alergic reaction.

That sounds like it could be the same as that. It is effective and on feet I imagine it would be good. I have had sweaty feet all my life too:-( but I sweat lots generally. First it was caused by over active thyroid and now my tamoxifen and various other drugs all can cause sweating. It is very humid here and as soon as I go out I am drenched! My face is the worst.

YES!!!This was one of my first symptoms- and it makes me feel disgusting. Also on prednisolone and one of the weirdest side effects is head sweating.

Same problem!

What exactly is in driclor I wonder. I'm a bit anti chemical...if I can help it. Will look it up.

Yup, just another 'joyous' aspect of having RA! So not only have I become obsessed with finding comfy but non-granny-gout-type footwear but I am also becoming obsessed with what material and how loose tops are... Sigh...

Harvey20 profile image
Harvey20 in reply toLadyL0u

Join the gang , it is really hard to cope with these things and as for footwear I have at least 20 pairs of shoes and boots that I can not wear 👠👠👡👢👢 x

Yeahy, in the 'grand scheme of things', yes it's not a painful problem, or life threatening, but it really is a complete 'downer'! My beautiful & quirky Irregular Choice shoes are all just pretty dust collectors these days!! :(

I think a lot of us have sweating. I have been asking everyone. My docs just say oh dear it's a side effect. It is all over for no apperent reason. Answer the phone l sweat, have a shower l sweat etc, not just underarms, whole body so my clothes or bed clothes are soaked. Have looked all over the net and so many people suffer. It's a side effect of predisolone, tramadol, morphine and l take all of these! This last week has been really bad. I have felt so sick with it to. I stay home as if l sit down somewhere it looks like l have wet myself on the seat. I have gel pads l put in the fridge and use in my pillows but still wake several times. I find if l need a wee l sweat as well. Help!,!

i used to get that.I'd be say browsing the internet.all of a sudden i'd break out into a hot sweat.it would start on my head and move down to my chest and back.It would last about an hour.Very uncomfortable,i would be soaked with sweat.i put it down to high blood sugar. I was diabetic, but i managed to reverse or cure my diabetes 5 months ago.i am now diabetes free with normal blood glucose reading.Since then the sweating stopped, plus a lot of other nasty frightening complications.

Hi I have real trouble with sweat my duvet is saturated in the morning & my body is soaking. It's a side effect of my tablets - amitrypiline & clozapine.

My sweating, caused by PMR. caused me to lose 20 lbs. Once on prednisone, the inflammation, sweating, and pain gradually disappeared. And, unfortunately,I regained most of that weight.

I do, just thought it was menopause

Radiogirl profile image

Wow. I didn't realize I was in such good company. I thought my all over body sweats were just menopause related, too. Nights are so difficult. Sheets, blanket on and off all night. Flip the pillow over and over. My poor husband freezes as I keep it too chilly in the bedroom trying to compensate.

Years ago, I danced professionally and our director would lovingly refer to our performance sweat as meerly "glistening.". This is far from glistening!! I guess it's good to be able to laugh about (mopping the floor with one's feet, glistening, etc..). And at least it isn't painful. ;)

Update on Driclor!

I had no issues at all with it!

No stinging , itching or even tingling. I followed to the letter on how to apply it according to the leaflet. Plus tips I researched online so I had no problems.

Armpits(horrid word)have to be bone dry, blast with hair drier on cool setting to be sure. Just do one or two swipes only where hair grows, allow to air dry arms in the air for one minute before dressing. Sleep in it, wash off in the morning...boom!

To soon to tell now, but next update is whether it works!!!
