This doesn't sound right, are you being monitored to see how MRX is helping you ?Whilst MTXcan take many weeks, months in some people you should be seeing positive effects now.

It might be worthwhile contacting your rheumatology dept.

Yes do contact your rheumatology department and let them know you’re suffering.

Poor you . It’s time to contact your clinic. Ring the helpline. It could be a flare or maybe your meds are not working. They need to know as part of your monitoring. Let’s us know how you get on x

Hi Halsey, sorry to hear you are in pain. Again I echo what the others and say let your rheumy know you’re in this pain. Again I agree it could be a flare up but also the rheumy should do a blood test to check your inflammation levels and if the med is doing enough. I hope you can get through to them tomorrow. Make sure you tell them you really are in a lot of pain. Good luck. X

… and let your team know about the itching too. I saw you mentioned it in a different post.

Hi, (((big hugs))) to you, I can’t add a anything to what the others have advised but I know this hot weather doesn’t make me feel any better, for some reason I always thought that because cold damp weather doesn’t make me feel good that hot weather would - but it doesn’t. Hopefully your rheumy will get you sorted out - you’re too young to be feeling so miserable.

Just seen your post about the itchiness - be sure to tell the rheumy team that you are worried because you have become very itchy - is it all over?

I wondered weather had something to do with extreme stiffness joint pain and fatigue i have had over the past few weeks. I haven't bothered contacting rheumatology department as they never respond I have given up with them. Just go to my GP who is very supportive.

I agree you should contact your rheumatology department for advice not all are like the ne I'm under.

Hi Halsey18, I had a lot of pain and stiffness a few weeks ago. After getting a steroid and trigger point injections from the RA dr, I felt much better - felt like my body was reset. I still have joint swelling and stiffness...but more manageable. To help reduce joint stiffness in the morning, I take a hot shower when I wake up. In the shower, I gently rotate my wrists, flexing/extending my fingers, and sometimes circle my ankles. If joint swelling is bad, I apply ice to the troubling joints or even soak them in ice water for 10-20 mins. Bought a large salad bowl for this. You are not alone. Please discuss your pain and stiffness with your dr. Hope my sharing helps. Sending you good thoughts :)

Yes definitely phone your nurse or Consultant 👍. I hope you get it sorted. Xx

Yes - by phoning your Rheumatology team asap and explain as to how you cannot cope with the level of pain and stiffness. They will arrange for pain relief and review your Methotrexate. Hope all goes well.

Good morning halsey18,Firstly I really feel for you because like you I was unfortunate to be diagnosed with RA, I was just 21. In the 53 years since my diagnosis so much has changed with treatments for RA emerging new drugs etc without them I think my situation now would be so much different. I am relatively active I play light sports and enjoy life. Just imagine in your lifetime there could be a cure for RA. Getting back to your question I have found that all sorts of things can affect your RA. Anxiety, stress, diet the list is pretty endless and you will learn what will make you suffer more. I have been having flare ups recently and it is down to heat and humidity I know this because it has happened so many times over the years. I do hope you feel better soon because I know it is not nice when you are having flare ups, I woke up this morning and could hardly move. I had pains in my hands, wrists and shoulders. Its not so warm and humid here today so I'm sure it will wear off during the day. In closing it may not necessary be your drugs, anyway I'm not qualified to comment on that. Hope you soon feel better.

Take care.

😀

Feel for you I get pain ,and weakness in my upper arms, and shoulders.I have the double whammy of RD and OA both diagnosed via my RD team.

When it gets unbearable (not even strong pain relief helping) I get in touch with

my RD nurse and she has given me intramuscular steroid injection which helps loads.

I've been on MTX several years & my RD is fairly reasonable at present.

As others have said get in touch with your RD team they will investigate & work out what is best.

Hope you get relief quickly :)

Might be an idea to check out your vitamin D and B12 Bloods, many symptoms you have mentioned here and in your other posts link in with these two vitamin deficiencies which rarely get looked into. D turned my own stiffness around overnight. Though everyone is different.

Yes, you need to contact the rheum dept. You shouldn't still be feeling like that. The nurses are usually brilliant. Take care.
