Methotrexate - stiffness

Am on my 5th does of metoject and I also take Cimzia. Was already feeling the benefits with reduced pain levels and stiffness. Woke up this morning and my joints are very stiff. Pain has not increased much but stiffness really difficult. Am anxious as I have had biologics fail on me before. Am sure that someone on this site will have experienced this. Any ideas on whether it will pass or am I heading for another drug failure so soon? All comments appreciated.

It could just be a flare. Have you been feeling stressed with all Christmas arrangement changing? Struggling to get provisions in? Worried about family or friends? Either of those could do it! Hope it subsides quickly. 🤞🏻

No more worried than usual, although I am in Tier 4. As a family we decided before Boris that we would not meet up, so haven't had to change things. Still, hope it is just a flare. Thanks for that.

Some people find their joints react to changes in the weather too! The combination of high humidity, stronger winds and low pressure affects me.

Humidity and heat renders me useless. Blow up like a balloon and stiff as a poker

Yes it does me and I have to be really careful not to get too hot in bed.

It could be a flare. I don’t get pain I’m lucky but I do get stiffness and mobility problems normally because my disease is active and meds not working. I’ve just started my second biologic and things are looking positive.

Oh, I didn't realise that some people found stiffness increasing without pain. Hope it is just a flare as all this changing drugs takes so long especially in the current situation. Will keep my fingers crossed for you that your second biologic works well.

sounds like a flare but also look out for the temperature have noticed high and low temps every other day not good for us.

Thanks for that. Yes these constant temperature changes are difficult, particularly knowing what bedding to have on.

I was taking Methotrexate for psorasis and I developed Grovers disease which causes lesions susceptible to cancer melamona SCC had many many biopsies etc..Had no other worrying problems from the methotrexate..

But was stopped ...after 3 yrs... had 4 weeks cold turkey became very unwell ...

was asked to take...Acitretin which I refuse due to horrible side effects ...still have mild psorasis.. Good luck to you sir.

Oh what a horrible thing to happen to you. It is always a difficulty choosing between side effects versus the efficacy of the drug on your disease. You often don't know if you have made the right choice until too late. Hope you psoriasis remains mild.
