just an update on my previous post about me asking to come off mxt. had my phone call appointment today he is sending me for another scan to see how the baricitinib has worked on the immflamatory in my hands tbh tho i dont think he will seE much as i had a steroid jab after my last scan and they scanned agained after about a week or so after i had the jab and it had all fully cleared and there hasnt been much flare ups since, im also being refered back to a surgeon for the deformity in my hands. anyways i asked him about my mxt and said i had tried everything for the sickness he said to miss it for 2 to 4 weeks then drop down to 10mg and see how i get on with that till i next see him in person i did say i had lowered it myself before to try and theres been times when ive only taken 10mg as ive only just about been able to stomach that amount and the sickness was still there. so wont be coming off them any time soon

It does take a while for reduction in the dose of methotrexate to work through your system. So it might be worth dropping down to 10mg for a few weeks to see if it helps. Your consultant is obviously keen for you to stay on it, but it really is up to you to decide - I insisted that I changed onto something else!

I think he is as well thats why i was struggling how to approach it as ive mentioned it a few times now. I cant see the lower dose helping to be honest ive been on mxt for years now and tried diff dosages and have still have bad nausea and sickness so ill probs be saying the same thing again when ever i have my next appointment haha

It’s for you consultant to advise and suggest and for you to decide. I stopped methotrexate myself, because I was feeling so ill for several days each week and it was effecting my mental health. After I decided to stop it, I called the Rheumy team and explained why. They were fine and quickly sorted my next meds. I’m not suggesting that you do this, just that it your choice.

Thats same with me its at a point now where its effecting my mental health. 10mg wont make any difference ill be telling him the same in how ever many months time. I just dont seem to do well with the nausea on mxt for some reason even after folic acid and any other anti nausea drugs or remedies
