Baricitinib and hydroxy worked well for me for the few months I was taking both.

I was exactly the same on 15mgs of methotrexate, with one folic acid per week! I used to hate Monday nights, taking it and Tuesday I was usually housebound due to feeling rubbish with the tiredness, sickness and horrible taste in my mouth. I used to drink copious amount of tonic as I couldn’t face tea or coffee after about 11:am!!!

Then I changed to 12.5mgs with folic acid 6 days a week.

I don’t dread Mondays any more and Tuesdays I can actually go out, I still don’t feel “normal” but it’s a vast improvement on the way I used to be.

Good luck x

I have folic acid every day but doesnt do much im on 20 mg of mxt theyve never reduced and are keeping it the same when i start the new biologic one too. Im same as you i dread when it comes around that i take my mxt just taking them i struggle with because i know how sick im going to be sounds mad i know and then the after taste is vile never know what to take or drink or eat to take it away half the time tho i can never stomach much because of the sickness. Hopefully i dont get any sickness with the new tablet 🤞🤞 x

Yes I used to be exactly the same I eat more on a Tuesday to take the taste away.... carrot sticks are handy to nibble on with a bit of humis!!!

Can you ask your RA consultant about whether you can reduce your dose to see if that helps. That is providing your RA I’d under control

Good luck xxx

Well ive mentioned how sick i get but never had it reduced not sure if its because ive been really bad lately with my joints and thats why im now going onto a new tablet, i may mention it tho when i next see him see what he says about lowering it even if its just slightly

Thank you for your reply and help xx

It’s definitely worth a try. I started out 10yr ago on 20mgs! It was horrendous and I had to work then.... I was sick and so tired for 2 days following methotrexate then I used to get a migrane on the 3rd day!! Basically I had 4 good days albeit with RA and 3 bad days! I was desperate...I told them how I’ll I felt and they reduced it to 15mgs. Then a year ago I still felt rough for 1 day a week so asked to reduce it to 13.5mgs. I’ve never looked back! I still get the odd flare like I always have done but at least I’m not as poorly as I used to be.

Im the exact same if im really bad with it im bad for atleast two days which just wastes my week i get sick just taking them because i know whats coming. Ill deffo ask, the 20mg aint doing what it should anyways thats why im having to go on the other tablet aswell so i dont think lowering it will do me any more damage than ive already had i see them again in 3 months ill bring it up with them xx

All I can say is I’m on baricitunib alone. It works and no sickness. Good luck.

I felt absolutely awful to the point where I wanted to stop the mtx , the sickness and I just felt dirty such a yuk feeling , I felt like I was taking something that wasn’t working and was making me feel really poorly , they switched me to the injections and what a difference, I hardly have any side effects from it now and I don’t dred the Sunday nights ( which were the days I took it ) I’m still on it but it hasn’t worked for me so starting imraldi next week .
