My two boys have left home so have felt upset th last few weeks and things got on top of me like struggling with work as not feeling great so as I say this morning I thought let’s get this sorted 😊 big mistake as thought I would give the shower tray a scrub out after having got stuck in the floor and my wrist and ankles giving up on me I now am
Now in lots of pain and feeling awful x methotrexate day too so feeling pretty rough right now 😩
Next time I get an energy burst I think I’ll

That's so typical when you try to do the right thing and end up feeling worse than you felt before, it's not fair. Take it easy now - you've earned it and I hope you have a good night's sleep and wake up feeling good tomorrow. x
Hi,I hope you feel abit better.have you read the stuff about planning and pacing yourself. It’s taken me a while to realise I can do what U used to. Give yourself a gentle hug.
Thanks no I haven’t but will do. I think I need to accept that I have this and have to do things a bit differently until the meds can settle it all down x lesson learnt I guess x
Have a look at “spoon theory” if you haven’t already. It sounds a bit strange, but it’s useful in helping to understand what’s using up your energy and how to not run out...or go into minus territory!
Hiya I’ve just read it and it’s exactly spot on!! Has made me feel better about myself as I’ve been worrying I’m making a mountain out of a molehill !! Like cooking dinner and then feeling too awful
To clear up etc !! My husband has recently taken over the cooking which is great. But I have printed the article off so I can give to members of my family who I sometimes feel like they think I’m just whining on 😂😂😂 I’m sure they don’t think that it’s just they don’t understand and this explains how I feel so well xxx thankyou xx
It’s difficult adapting. Take me ages. I’ve had to adapt setting myself small small tasks. I can’t go through the house as I used to stop having to get used to it.When I get out of the bath by the cleaner round and then wiping. This makes it a bit easier. I feel a bit rubbish I I have a toilet. It’s so hard getting used to another way of life. I’ve always been busy working children walking socialising. Now I really had To slow down Otherwise I’m wiped out.I’m must apologise for being negative, but planning and planning for a rest are essential.
We’ve all done it. Felt good and then gone mad at doing something only for our bodies to remind us that it is better to pace ourselves. Hope you have a good night’s sleep and wake feeling better x
I think most of us can say we have been there on a day when we feel we can do A B C and go on lets throw in D E and F as well. Then our bodies let us know that may be that wasn't such a good idea after all. So hope the co codamol and a snuggle up in bed helped. Yes those energy bursts come a long and we feel like we can climb a mountain and that sense of achievement feels so good but sometimes the next day feel like we've tumbled down it and need some TLC! Take care x
Oh I really feel for you. This is a feature of our lives isn't it? We can just keep ticking over day to day but do anything 'extra' - be it cleaning, a longer than usual walk, a bit of gardening and wham - RA hits back! I call it 'China doll syndrome' ie feeling like we have to be careful or else!! Hope you feel better soon.
Next time you feel you want to get a sense of achievement, eat a bar of chocolate with a knife and fork. It takes planning, slow but steady movement and a great feeling of well-being afterwards 😋😁
So easily done. I have a 20 minute rule, where I don't do anything for more than 20 mins. then rest and see if I can do another 20 mins. Otherwise I am hopeless at pacing myself and end up in agony for days. Then I get less done. Hope you feel better tomorrow.
Yeah I’m with you I haven’t learned how to pace myself either but I have to do something when I can I generally only do one task per day and spread everything out over the week. There’s still lots I can’t do but I don’t let it bother me better than being in a world of pain. Hope you’re feeling a little better today. Take it easy and try not to do it again but I’m a fine one to talk 😃
I did that last weekend...Saturday cleaned my house - dusted, hoovered, washed floors etc, would have been ready for visitors if we were allowed them 😆 and did a bit of gardening, then Sunday went for an hour’s walk with a friend even though I was already suffering and after that I could barely move, my ankles were in complete agony. Luckily Monday was spent sitting at my desk for work and felt a bit better again on Tuesday. I need to learn to pace myself too. Hope you feel better soon!
