I’ve been on Benepali for 2.5yrs and after seeing my consultant I am being moved onto Baracitnib, I was hoping someone here might have some advice and experience with this JAK ?
( just a bit of background info... I have had RA for 20yrs, I have fused ankles, deformed joints, worn hips and knees, and been on countless medications, including a few biologics)
Thank you in advance everyone.

Started this four months ago! Knee and ankles are no longer swollen or painful. I feel happier about my RA and have not had any side effects. Before baricitinib I was on many drugs and had a shoulder replacement because of RA and I was in a bad way. So if it is offered I would go ahead it also leaves the body after three days so if you have issues they can be sorted quickly. Good luck. 🍀
Thank you for your reply 😊 this was the first choice of action as am awaiting my second covid vaccine which I would need before starting down the different route of infusions, and my consultant wants to try something quickly as we need to reduce the pain and inflammation.
I hope it continues to work very well for you and I wish you all the best ❤️
Happy to discuss my experiences with you. I had already been on leflunomide sulfasalazine prednisone methotrexate and various other combinations I was on humira for ten years but it stopped working for me. That was why my rheumatoid consultant suggested it. At the time I would have said yes to anything. I am just pleased I did. I hope all goes well for you. Let me know if you need any more info🌞
I started this in December and things improved dramatically ( did a post not long ago) had to come off it 4 weeks ago due to other problems and boy do I know about it. Restarted yesterday 🤞🏻I get the same results
My husband has found Baricitinib excellent. Just make sure GP monitors cholesterol. Hospital didn't mention it, he had to ask GP to test it. It's gone up quite a bit, but might not effect you.. Hope it suits you too.
Thank you 😊 I will mention it to GP as cholesterol is slightly high because of my love for cheese 😆, wouldn’t wish RA on anyone, hope it continues to work for your hubs for many many years to come 💕
I’ve been taking flaxseed in my breakfast and flaxseed capsules . I’ve always had cholesterol around 6 or slightly above. I started the flaxseed same time as Baricitinib I’m now 5.1 only thing I’ve done different.
Hi I’ve just started on baracitnib and already seeing some benefits- hands and wrist less swollen and can walk without pain for the first time in a while. Was a bit concerned to get a call asking if I’d had the shingles vaccine (I haven’t) and also a letter today from surgery advising me to stay home and see no one fir the next 12 weeks. Obviously powerful meds but working for me 🤞
