Packaging and flushing!

Oh the packaging on Benepali. I am so great full for the benefit of the drug but using my poor painful weak fingers to open the packaging makes me shout every time. The little perforations and the cardboard is so tough to pull apart .

The other problem I have is flushing the loo with buttons that are mounted on a vertical surface. My solution is to use the handle of an old toothbrush to give the button a push! I moved into this house two years ago and the bathroom is beautifully designed and I am loathe to make any changes to install a different cistern with a handle.

Anyone else got handy hints for everyday living?🤔🤔

I'll be very interested in the responses you get about the toilet flush issue.

I'm in the lucky position of planning new bathrooms and have been wondering about that. I'd love to have automatic flushes but they seem to be ridiculously expensive so I'm hoping to find large, easy-push buttons although I suppose that an old-fashioned handle is an option 🤔

Seriously the buttons set on top of a cistern are fine but also think about your taps . The ones with the handles are easiest.

Thanks - yes, I've already decided on lever taps.

Interestingly, I struggle with the buttons on the top of our downstairs cistern but have managed vertical ones in hotels etc (those were the days!) by using my elbow. The automatic ones are bliss though!

This has been brought up before about benepali packaging and NRAS were going to be looking into it for us I thought, but I’ve heard nothing since unless I’ve missed it. It’s ridiculous to make packaging so hard to open when alot of people using that product may have problems with their hands. Maybe someone from NRAS will see this and let us know if they had any joy.

As for the toilet button issue would a short stick with a rubber ferrule on the end work? Then you would be using more of your hand rather than fingers to push it. I hope you find a solution.

Thanks Kitty, for your suggestion-of a rubber ferrule. I have something I call a blobber which I use on the ipad keyboard which would be useful.I shall have to carry a handy pocket one for when we are eventually allowed out and about and also visiting friends houses to deal with those tricky toilet buttonsI think the Benepali packaging is more a problem with the thick cardboard packaging and the depth of the perforations at the sides. They just don't tear. Let’s hope the NRAS have followed this problem up with the manufacturers

Yes the outer box is easier, the inner one I find impossible. Luckily my husband undoes them all when they arrive otherwise I’d be breaking my teeth😬

Re the packaging .. I have a very sharp pair of scissors and a bookbinding sharp tool I cut/hack into any anything which is hard to open, but yes the manufacturer should make it easier for us who have hand issues. Mtx is an easier one to open. We can easily sprain thumbs and joints trying to pull boxes apart. x
